...ok so its not all on one card but 15 close family and friends that have birthdays between now and the beginning of January.
We have fifteen birthdays running between 13 dec and 13 jan...2 of which are on christmas day .....and then theres also mine

I think I have done quite well and got a mixture of greetings that will suit each recipient...but I cant help feeling that its a lot to spend on a few bits of card that just wish someone a happy birthday!!!!

Dont get me wrong I adore birthdays and would/am quite upset if those close to me forget mine...and it does happen as I too am one of those "christmas birthday " people... I probably look forward to a card more than a present as I usually am still opening christmas presents or at least wishing people a "merry Christmas and happy new year" when the birthday arrives!
I used to find it difficult to find nice birthday cards in shops as come november they are full of christmas displays hence shopping early for them now

Do you suffer with a birthday in christmas or new year week...and how do you feel when you have to share your special day with other celebrating christmas/new year?

People just seem to be in the spirit of christmas and now forget or blame it on the christmas post for not receiving a card on the day

My bug bears are either that I get a combi present at christmas or a birthday present thats clearly a recycled christmas present....made worse if it wrapped in christmas paper too!
As a child it was always difficult to have a birthday party as most friends were away or snow got in the way but bless my parents they always made sure that I did celebrate without a christmas decoration still evident and a birthday cake that didnt resemble the christmas cake bearing candles!

Although I clearly dont take notice of my own advice...my husband too has a christmas birthday and both children were born within the first week of January...so we seem to be on cake overload and not knowing if its a birthday cake day or a mince pie day....then get nothing again until the following year!

If you have a birthday during the festive period what do you do or others do to make your day special?

Thank you for reminding me, hubby's birthday is on Saturday, the main present is on its way but I have yet to get a card, other little things I've seen for him, and a box/bag for the presents as I would feel a bit mean wrapping them up in paper from our stash - these have been hoarded for others' xmas and birthday presents. Am I the only one who feels mean if I wrap OH's present in hoarded 'bargain' wrapping paper? I got them from the Boots sale in January!

My birthday is in mid-December and thankfully not so close to xmas as to be totally ignored :) although I have been known to ask OH for a combined present :)

My husband had his birthday between Christmas and New Year and as a child got the 'big' present for both.

However I make sure I always give seperate presents and wrap his birthday gift in birthday paper and we always do something just for him

    I've been Money Tipped!
I stock up whenever the Card Factory does their 7 cards for £1 offer.

Saves a fortune - as a recepient, I think the words inside are more important than the design.

I LOVE Christmas but to be honest I like my birthday being in June, I wouldnt have been too pleased when I was little about combined presents, or having my birthday lost in all the Christmas excitement

I know someone born on Christmas Eve and they quite like it, I guess you cant help when your born

Also I know someone who's Grandad was born on boxing day and hated it so much that he 'changed' his birthday and had it on 21st October every year!

My birthday's mid Jan and even that's too close to Christmas for my liking. Would be ok in December as everyone's feeling festive but by January everyone's skint, detoxing and cold lol.

I love sending/receiving cards though. Got a great pack of birthday cards in Asda last week - 8 for £1! Good quality ones too, not cheap looking at all.

My birthday is on Christmas Day and I always felt a bit cheated when I was young. Often I received one 'big' present to cover both celebrations. One year my OH left my birthday card at home while we were away staying at the inlaws for a few days over the festive period (about 35 years ago) and he has never been allowed to forget!!!!!!!!!!

My family always spoil me on Christmas Day and make it special. My grandsons however, can't quite get their heads round Granny having a birthday on Christmas Day.

My two nieces have birthdays in December,I'm wondering if I can get away with sending a birthday and a christmas card in the same envelope ?

My sons is the 23rd Dec. I've decided when he's older if he wants he can have a day to celebrate maybe in June where he can decide what he would like to do. Invite his friends.
  • My birthday is 22nd December and what frustrates me is people who send my birthday card and don't mark it as such, so I end up opening it thinking it is a christmas card. I love getting birthday cards, so am not ungrateul it is just that I like to open them on my birthday. Won't happen this year as it is a big birthday and we're away for it, so I will open the whole lot when I get back!

I used to hate the "joint" present thing when I was a kid. Now I am older I just hate the way I have to plan my birthday meal out months in advance so I can get a table, then when we get there there is a fixed christmas menu with crackers!!!!
What goes around comes around.....I hope!

My cousins are the 25th Dec and 29th Dec

We have always made a huge effort to make sure their birthdays get celebrated.

My cousin on the 25th gets the entire morning just for birthday presents and he is allowed any meal he likes (normally a curry)

We have always brought them seperate presents for both occasions.

My aunt use to do them a birthday party in July so they could have the usual bouncy castles ect.

I get the majority of my cards from the card factory except for my Mum and my OH. I will spend ages looking for the card with just the right words plus my mum loves the 1920 style cards you get in Clintons so I always get her that plus one with nice words as I know she keeps them all.
