I know it sucks but I'd be inclined to accept their offer of a repair as per the Regulations shown above but write a very strongly worded letter to the CEO of Tesco Philip Clarke outlining the disgraceful way that you have been treated.
I would still be inclined to get your exact legal status by talking to Citizen Advice on the 0845 number above just incase you are entitled to a replacement rather than a repair.0 -
Absolutely fuming. All they keep saying is that if the phone does not work what good is it to them and asking for £485.00.0

Guess there is not much I can do now until my deadlock letter arrives....
The only reason that I do not want to send it for a repair now is that I have given them over 12 opportunities already and only now when I have said enough is enough are they offering to repair it.
Have absolutely no faith in them what so ever. 12 times same fault????Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
Are you sure its not the network? I had similar call problems with O2 and then changed to Ovivo (Vodafone) and they went away.
O2 replaced the sim card several times and then blamed the phone. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
TBH I don't know. My Oh is with 02 and I was for a while and never had an issue.
It is so frustrating. Tescos will not take ownership, have now issued a deadlock letter which I understand gives me the right to refer the issue to the telecoms regulator.
But that will take up to 8 weeks.
In the meantime I have and will be paying for a phone which is I can not make calls from.
I will now have to go and get another phone which I hope will work and allow me to make and receive calls when I want to instead of when my phone decides it is acceptable. More money!
Just really seems unfair. 2 months is a long time as I use my phone a lot. Not only the safety issue, being out with kids, dog etc, but also for work and even keeping in touch with a Beavers group I help to run. So I used to send lots of texts and emails. Used to being the operative word.
Long and short even if the regulators agree I will have paid 8 months contract and not of been able to use my phone. That is a lot of money to waste.
If anyone is reading this and considering using Tescos for their mobile don't!
No matter how nice the people are in store, its not their fault just walk away.
Tesco's apparently do not have the know how or expertise in the field. Even if it costs you a pound or two more go else where. Mobiles are a newish field for them and they have not got a clue about it.
Customer service is non-existent, and if you do have a problem do not expect it to be sorted out anytime soon if at all.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
I have to say going into a store with a Tesco Mobile kiosk will do nothing - they are only able to issue new contracts.
I have had an issue with an iPhone on contract form Tesco Mobile before, as the phone was not picking up any signal suddenly and this was when I'd had the contract for 8 months and I have to say - their customer service was great. They sent me a paid for bag for me to send my phone to them securely, sent me a sim card adapter to use my sim in a standard phone, kept up communication with me the entire time and after 2 weeks, decided the phone was not fixable and sent me a refurb for free!0 -
We've been with Tesco Mobile since August. DH received a new Samsung G4 and I had DH's old iPhone.
The G4 had similar problems as the OP's - it kept searching for the internet at home and having to re-establish the link.
Mindful of the 14 day window to return the phone, we researched online only to find that there were many people with this problem.
We tried one possible fix which was to turn our internet off and restart it, but nothing changed.
DH called Tesco Mobile who were very helpful, and we took the G4 back and exchanged it for a new iPhone for DH. Problem solved quickly and within 14 day window.0 -

Wish that had been me my problems started just outside the 14 days. So since then no matter how nice and I have tried honestly nothing.Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
I have x2 connections with Tesco, cant fault them. OP the ombudsman really is premature and to be honest wont resolve, as you have not allowed them chance to check the phone over.
If you call and complain, ask for a loan phone what they will do is say buy a payasyou go from store and they will credit you.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
