Hello, just wanted to wish the very lovely and supportive people of this 'ere thread a lovely Christmas, for those who celebrate it, spent in the company of loved ones and friends.
I'm somehow continuing to keep costs down, making the most of YS bargains and meal planning, I've also been able to touch wood, quite regularly knock a few quid off supermarket shopping by doing a spot of mystery shopping, it's only a tiny amount but it all helps.
Made a lovely shepherd's pie with some lamb mince (£2.85 I think) from Aldi. Also lovely big TTD prawns frozen are on offer at £3, down from £4.50 in Sains, have stuck some packets in the freezer for curries in the new year -- quick and easy.
Good news is I bought a bread maker for £20 off eBuy, bad news is I haven't found time to unwrap it yet x0 -
SW = Slimming World. These are HM chips which are par boiled and then sprayed with F*rylight and baked in the oven. These chips don't have loads of oil on them like ready made oven chips do. HTH.

Thanks for information. I do wedges with olive oil and chips in the deep fryer with groundnut oil - I find neither are very greasy
Another NSD for me today :j
HM onion and cheese quiche, jacket pots and salad for dinner, but we did have HM pea and ham soup (freezer) with toasted soda bread (freezer) as DH not working today.
Hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday

Today the Sun has a voucher for £5 off if you spend £40 in Aldi. I don't think I need to spend that much, but Mum and I pool our shopping to tip £40 and share the saving.

Trying to decide what to do for dinner, its got to be something that dosent involve putting anything back in the freezer as its crammed full already. The good news is its not all mine.
I have turkey, pork and beef for my DD, 3 joints of beef for my Brother, two joints of beef for my niece and one for her MIL, this should be out on Sunday so I will have some space if I manage to get any xmas eve bargain reductions.Slimming World at target0 -
Went out yesterday and got baby stuff in prep from him starting nursery next week. So hoping I have enough nappies and possibly milk to last to end of month.
Have been doing really well eating whats already here, was planning on a chicken, chorizo and butter bean stew from index yesterday but my chorizo was not edible so ended up mocking up a chicken stew with butter beans and added lots of other veggies instead. Was yummy with enough left over for 2 lunch sized portions in freezer.
Today I am defrosting a HM cumberland pie and other than my OH buying fresh pizza on saturday there shouldnt be any other food purchased really.0 -

Ooohhh... actually, a change to my budget for Dec/Jan - Mr Shortie's Mum kindly gave us £30 towards the Christmas food as they are staying with us for a few days. We said there was no need, but she gave us some money anyway - plus she's bringing some snacky bits over with them.
So, budget for Dec-Jan is now £230:D
.... Is it just me that's actually looking forward to the leftovers as much as the 'main dinner' over Christmas? I'm already dreaming of a handfull the pork hand leftovers shredded and cooked off with some sweet chilli sauce and some fried left over roasted spuds, all in a wrap ready to be rewarmed when I'm back in work on the Friday? No? Oklay, maybe just me being random in that caseApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500
