:)Thanks for the help with the turkey mince- we like beef flavour but I think I will mix it half/half with the beef mince and plenty of gravy / beef stock to sneak it into meals- will let you know how it worked. I plan to have a lasagna making weekend and hopefully the mince be OK this way.
:hello:Hi !:hello:
I have batch cooked 4 large lasagnas with 2/3 turkey mince and 1/3 beef mince - with added beef stock / gravy granules and it turned out lovely- tastes just like a regular 'beef' lasagna. Because I got the turkey mince YS and had other bits from the freezer (mushrooms / peppers) and used value products it worked out for £1 each for a lovely large lasagna each. Will have one for diner tonight + 3 more gone to the freezer ready for an other day.
I had to start to bring stuff into my work freezer  because my large chest freezer is filled to the brim- TBH no idea what's in the bottom of it?:o I got it in December 2 years ago (£50 secondhand) and I have a feeling I have Christmas dinner leftovers from 2 years ago?!? I'm to scared to have a look, but in the interest of frugal living I think I have to 'woman up' and have an expedition into the bottom of the freezer... :rotfl:if I'm not back by next week, please send a search party for me

What's went wrong?
It stuck to the bottom and looked like it had separated?!
Think as I put it on low for 3hrs and it still didn't look remotely done after this time and it was now midnight so I made the executive decision to leave it overnight. Bad move. Also I used long grain rice. Not sure where I went right TBH.That voice in your head that says you can’t do this is a LIAR!

This gave me such a giggle - thank you. I hope you find the bottom of your freezer OK!
We have a tiny freezer at the bottom of the fridge - just one normal full size drawer, a thin one and a half depth full size so it takes a bit of jiggling and I can't really buy in bulk to try to save money.
I keep looking at chest freezers - we used to have one in the garage but never filled it so gave it away.
Last time we looked at the small chest freezers I tried to see if I could reach the bottom - no way!! I am 5 ft 2 in stockinged feet and am unable to reach far - backs of cupboards, washer, tumble drier etc - due to cervical spondylosis - so we will just have to carry on as we are!!
The freezer is pretty empty now however as I am trying desperately to come in under budget this month. Only 10 days and one small shop to go!!!July 16 £95/£200
Nov 16 £0/£200

It took me 6-6 1/2hrs on low setting last time to make ricepudding with 4pints of milk- I always use shortgrained rice for rice pudding, however i can't see why long grain wouldn't be OK, however never tried it. Don't give up on SC rice pudding yet, just like with everything else its try and see what working for you- it's a great way to use up out of date milk."NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS FREE FOOD"

I'm also 5 ft 2 in 'tall' - it does mean that I have to 'dive into' the freezer if I do want to get to the bottom... might even find some treasures down there :rotfl:"NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS FREE FOOD"
