Just popped back to record menuplan for week as I love to see what other people are eating

Sunday - toad in the hole with carrots mash and cabbage (DD1 away until tomorrow so will freeze a portion of the sausage in gravy for another lunch/meal)
Monday - Lamb and spinach curry already in freezer with vegetable pilau rice, going to try the nan bread from the recipe section as well.
Tuesday - Bacon potato and cheese bake with cabbage and beans
Wednesday - Fish in sauce (sainsbugs) with mash and green beans
Thursday - Shepherds pie with veggies
Friday - Chips and egg (never sure who will be in so nice and easy)
Saturday - Roast chicken leg dinner (YS chicken at 1.75)

Hope everyone is having a good day - I have a pile of ironing that would scare Sherpa Tenzing!

FlatEric, I think it's sonething like 20 mins per lb, then an extra 20 mins added to the total. Worth double checking on google though :)

I don't think 20mins per pound is enough if you want it well done.

A lot does depend on the cut of beef, i.e. sirloin.silverside or top rump but I have found that if I blast it for 30mins on high like gas 7 and then turn down to 4 for about 30-40 mins a pound I get tender well done beef. always wrap in foil and only take it off for the last half hour.

Just got some great reductions in my local (onestop) shop
2 packs of 800 gram chicken drumsticks and thighs, 8 drumsticks eight thighs = 8 meal if dinner or 16 if lunch £2.

    2 pork chops 50p

2 cod fillet in batter, half price promotion. £1.00

    2 packs 250grms beef mince 1.00

    Pack of 4 pizzas £1.00

and 2 hovis seeded loaves for 40p

So 5.50 for 24 meals and 40p bread for 20 sandwiches or 40 pieces of toast.

    Very pleased with £5.90 spend.

Spent £7.75 in Lidl today, potatoes, milk, butter, eggs, bicarb and hot choc.
Came home and looked in the cupboards. I have 8 days worth of packed lunches to do before month end and only 6 yogs, 1 bar of choc and 6 packs of crisps. I had a discussion with the children on overeating (I bought enough for the month and they have clearly been porking because I don't eat it!) and said I refuse to buy more. So I'm going to get creative. I'm thinking sandwiches, cuecumber (enough for this week instead of crisps), chunks of cheese, a bun, piece of fruit and flapjack maybe. Also thought about making cheese biscuits. Any other ideas welcome.
I must say I am finding this harder than I thought, although I have eaten out today, had a takeaway last week and bought a couple of magazines and a sandwich so could cut back on that, its probably £20 of indulgences to be fair. Its very interesting though. Still hoping to come in on budget.

    Congratulations nickjw :j

Another nsd here today as I thought i'd leave getting toilet roll until tomorrow and go late to try and get some ys meat. I am starting to run very low on meat and my store cupboard is also looking thinner than normal.

    76.48 + 14.30 +1.12 = £91.90

Still not doing great with this - had a take away and a meal out but I'm not counting them in my grocery budget. Perhaps I should have an eating out budget too.

The £14.30 was basically made up of junk food and the £1.12 was actually when I just popped to the corner shop for carrots and ended up with yellow stickered fruit loaf too.

    Budget left for the month £175 - 91.90 = £83.10

and another 2.99 spent on packed lunch stuff. £93.89 of the budget used.

    Hi all,

Spent another £9.50ish at Mr S

OH blew up my stick blender, just when I wanted to make soup, so bought a basics one at £4.50. Also bought a BNS ( for soup) and eggs.

Bit annoyed as I went to Mr S to buy alot more, had a £9 off £60 spend plus £20 of nectar points - so the plan was to buy all the stocking smellies for OH and kids today as they had a third off - got there all SEL,s said full price, even though website said still on sale - guess it finished today and they,d changed em, but I couldn,t remember what should be what, so didn,t buy any of ,em - Grrrrrr..... Trying to spend little as possible without it being a crap xmas.

I have always spent a fortune on kids (guilt shopping) and have stuck to a much smaller budget this year, but this included buying when stuff is on offer - I,m sure if I wait I,ll get the deals, but don,t like last minute rush.

    Enough blathering -

SC gammon with mash, carrots, cabbage and cheese sauce for dinner - used gammon 'juice' which had leeks in it churned up with BNS for soup tomorrow with HM rolls - LO gammon for lunches this week
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!
