Oh Parsnip crisps:D!! I use a potato peeler to get really thin slices, pop them in the oven or fry them? I do mine in an acti-fryer thingymobob.

Pasta - my fave is pesto ... but tend to use quick and easy egg & cheese mix dropped straight into freshly boiled pasta.
Could make a Roux - I put mustard in sometimes.

Had a small spend today of £13.51 but this included paper for the printer and 3 small stocking fillers so not too bad. Have spent £ 64.60 so far this month.

    great ys bargains k9

Very much so Craig. Hardly ever manage to get anything quite that cheap, and it all seemed fresh too!

Having a mini break. I have done the carrot and swede, making leek and potato soup (from YS leeks the other day and will use the rest for Leek and Butterbean stew) and going to tackle the parsnips, roasted veg later when the oven is on for girls pizzas.

    Busy, busy, busy today ...

Got the letter for my £135 warm home discount this morning and my £200 heating allowance should be due shortly.

I am going to use this to buy 2x£144 Asda christmas gift cards to get £12 bonus.

I did this last year and managed to make this last for 5 months groceries, mainly offers and YS but also bought Christmas and birthday presents in the January sale.

Will challenge myself to get 6 months groceries this year.

K9 = what amazing bargains! I never seem to get YS stuff - not sure whether it's because I shop at the wrong time, or because the SMs near me don't have so much stuff to reduce. Having said that there was some meat in the reduced section at Mr T on Monday but none of it had actually been reduced. When do people find is the best time to find the bargains?

Just made a chicken and veg pie - I had so much filling I've also managed to make a small (2 portion) one as well (I had already make double pastry so I could freeze some) The trouble is the chicken was out of the freezer (i.e. already cooked) so I can't just put the pie in the freezer uncooked. If I cook it and then freeze it would that be ok? And what would I do with it when I defrosted it - would I just put it in the oven for a bit to re-heat or would the pastry burn?

I also have the no-room-in-the-freezer problem! But I reckon I could squeeze in a pie:)
    May spend - £291.40/£320.00
    June spend - £106.40/£320.00

I would cook the pie until the pastry is just beginning to brown so that when you reheat it it won't get too brown, iykwim!
