on track for a minimum spend on Thursday. Funny day for working things out from I know but its payday :). I will be shopping for washing liquid, fruit, cheese and squash as we need nothing else *yippee*.

So far this week, the meal plan has looked like this:

Thursday - we had a pizza as DH got paid
Friday - chicken, noodles and veg
Saturday -pork loin steaks, mashed tatties and veg
Sunday - roast chicken, tatties and veg
Monday - Chicken fajitas with chicken leftover from Sunday
Tuesday - pork sausage and veg pasta bake
Wednesday - sausage and mash and onion gravy
Thursday - HM fish and chips

Thankyou to whoever posted the slow cooker rice pudding recipe. DH works for a milk delivery company and comes home with litres of milk every week so its been perfect for using up a small part of that. We both love rice pudding and DH was partial to a Muller Rice in his piece for lunch but since we have been making it ourselves, he has a pot of that with a spoonful of jam in it and doesn't notice the difference :).

A planned NSD didn't turnout that way :o The kids decided they wanted a mini fireworks party.
This meant a spend of £9.78 on pizza, garlic breads, buns and burgers. I do have 5 burgers left though and a full pizza sized garlic bread. I'll get a meal for the 4 of us out those. There is also 8 buns left and a tin of hotdogs which will make another lunch.
    £36/£240
    £5522

    NSD today...

Due to do a biggish spend this weekend though, need cat food, WU liquid, loo roll etc - am going to attempt my first full shop at Ald,s - its only been there a few weeks, so have only sampled good so far - their Torro Locco is fab, but that won,t fill bellies ;)

Friend bought a massive load of spuds prior to a party last weekend, have been using them up this week, am now a bit fed up of ,em, so feel the need for some less carb laden meals next week
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Got to go shopping this week (which I was not planning to do) as have a vegetarian friend round for sunday roast so need to purchase a few bits and bobs.

Will try my hardest to avoid spending more than a fiver/tenner.

Just to add to my post above, my month is from 22nd Oct-22 Nov.

Do not have current figure to hand but have spent apporx £50 odd

  • joedenise - that's a good ideas - although I've decided that the little pie will do for lunch tomorrow. DH has a microwave at work, but prefers sandwiches cos he can eat them at his desk. As he is still not home from work I reckon taking enough time off to eat pie tomorrow is owed him.

meg72 - that's a useful rule of thumb re freezing the chicken - thank you

cocoloco maybe I don't have much luck because the local Mr T (which is where I would tend to go of an evening) is open 24 hours! I also think I may be a bit late as I tend to get DD to bed before I go, plus I can't go until DH gets home from work to babysit, so I probably don't get there on time.

Pie was very nice by the way!
    May spend - £291.40/£320.00
    June spend - £106.40/£320.00

I only have the C*-*p, One St*p and Morris*ns on the doorstep. Tend to find veg is reduced the cheapest in the morning about 9.00 after school run in Mr M, some fridge stuff okay but never look late at night, bakery items go right down about 8.30pm ( shuts at 9pm).
OS reduces there's in the morning, got many a YS milk roll for 45p instead of 90p in there.
C*-*p has best reduuctions around 2.30/3pm, though i never look at the meat or fish section as it s never got much off, fridge section is hit and miss but bread normally reasonable reductions, particularly if it has been on promotion.

Still no room for the peppers, and half a swede at the mo, so they are on the worktop til i can find time to chop, and cook or chop and freeze, or a space becomes available in the fridge. Probably be better putting them outside, with the frightful weather we have most days here.

  • Thanks for this. I should imagine that this time is also much quieter. I always get elbowed out of the way at the reduced section. Am I the only one that thinks there should some etiquette or am I being too polite

Yes I am too polite too I go for the reductions but most times I do not rush in ,I remember watching people snatch ing and I just walked away
