Does it happen just as the car starts moving for the very first time, or a little bit later.

First time in the morning when I leave for work. And also when I leave work to go home.

I get that but what I mean is does it happen the very instant the car first starts rolling, ie. when you bring the clutch up after selecting first gear, or does it happen a little later, e.g. 2 meters down your driveway.

I pull off the driveway and brake before I pull into the road and it's fine. Then when I pull off properly the first time I brake it happens. I've recently had a new clutch could it be to do with that?

Kwik fit tested the handbrake and said it was fine. Although it may be in my imagination but it does feel like it's holding back slightly?

    Damp in the rear brakes.

I suspect there is damp in the rear brake shoes or pad/disc when you start rolling it swells a bit and catches which may be your sound as you press the brake it returns to normal spec.

Common on rear brake shoes & backing off the adjuster may be all that's needed.

The springs may well have been snapped seen many pieces of spring by the kerb side lots of these speed humps not helping.

May be worth a look. The handbrake sticks on my car if you leave it on for weeks, then you hear a thonk or two the instant it starts moving. I tend to leave it in Park with no handbrake since my driveway is flat and I don't drive it much.

Easy test would be to leave the handbrake off overnight, instead leave the car in 1st so it doesn't roll away.

Remember to take it out of 1st or hold the clutch down when starting the car the next morning!

    Ditto.

Citroen C2 = rear drum brakes. Cold and wet weather = surface rust.
