Hi, I had a knocking noise after first pulling off my drive from the rear of my car, I took it to kwik fit as I thought it was the brakes who took a look and told me I had a broken rear coil spring. I got them both replaced at a cost of £164 in Saturday. The noise is still there now. What should be my next step? I took it back yesterday they had a quick look and said everything looks fine?

Take it to a proper garage.

Going to them in the first place was the first mistake!

I now know that. But I've still paid £164 to fix a problem that's not been fixed.

It looks like they have fixed a problem, it's just not "the" problem you took it in with.

Take it to a proper local garage and ask them to take you with them on a drive and point out the problem to them.
  • What car is it?

Thing is it only happens after I pull off from my drive and then after I pull away from work. It's fine whilst driving.
  • The rear coil spring still could have been broken - I had a broken rear spring on my old car for about 4 months before I had chance to change it. No knocking etc.

Seems sensible of them to start with the obvious things first - at least it's done.

It's always a good idea to ask if you can have the old parts back if a garage replaces anything, particularly with places like kwikfit, at least you maybe able to see if it was broken.

It wouldn't surprise me if it is something as simple as the exhaust catching somewhere, especially if it is doing it when you pull away or through the gears.

If kwik fit are now acting clueless then take it some where else for a second opinion.

It only happens when I first touch the brakes then it's fine? Kwik fit have checked the brakes and handbrake and all is fine.
