This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Good morning everyone
Can't believe it's Monday already but that may have something to do with the fact that I fell asleep before 8pm last night! Too many lack of sleep nights caught up with me at just the right time.
Interview day today and have been stressing over what to wear. I wore a suit last week but all 3 interviewers were very casual, one had jeans on. So am trying to go for smart but a bit more casual today and ending up buying a skirt I could not afford yesterday and am now wondering whether to wear it or take it back. Decision time ....
Sausage meatballs and stir fried cabbage for dinner, have been off low carb all weekend and need to get back on it with a vengeance or the scales will be upsetting me
DH's payday today so the debt has dropped a bit which always cheers me up.
Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for anyone who needs or just wants them. Keep well and safe and have a super dayLBM 10/1/12 ~ DFW Start 6/2/12: £82,344 ~ Now Zero:staradmin:starmod::staradmin Debt free 17th April 2015 :staradmin:starmod::staradmin

Good luck TTFM. Personally I would stick with my suit for a second (and indeed any) interview but I just have a thing about creating a smart impression
Will keep my fingers crossed that it goes well.
No DH til late Thursday...spaghetti hoops on toast with poached egg on top for my tea tonight then!
Time to go jump in the shower, then chuck some laundry in. Did most of it yesterday, and got all the ironing done, including our kingsize bedding which I HATE doing!
Have a good day all

Good Luck TTFTM - I too would go with the suit if that's what you're more comfortable wearing. Don't let the panel fool you by their casual wear!!
Jools - Hugs to you, hope work takes your mind off things for a while.
Probably raining here again, can't see as it's dark but can't hear it at the moment, not like last night when it was deafening!
Back to work for myself and DD today after a good long week off, need to do packed lunches. Chicken something for tea, not sure what yet.
Have a good Monday. Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Off to work soon, fish fed, packups made WM on DW unloaded, hubby still in bed as he's on lates tonight, he won't want a meal when he gets in as it's too late.
I bought a couple of packets of filled tortellini £4 for 2 packets each packet does 3 meals for me and I shall be knackered at the end of each day, not OS but not too expensive & if I don't have something quick I'll end up with a packet of sweets or crisps.
Good Luck TTFM
Have a good day everyone.

Had a lovely weekend , DD2 s 18 the birthday , we went to Chester and she went diving with sharks at the aquarium. It was amazing some of the sharks were 14 feet long  she had a fantastic time , we then went to my brothers pub and had a family meal , I feel absolutely kn@ckered , we have driven over 700 miles this weekend
Off to work now
Have a great day everyone xx0 -

TTFTM I would stick with a suit too. It got you to the second interview didn't it.
HH Go steady pace yourself, I would have thought a week on shorter hours would have been the next step not full time.
Jools & RR ((hugs)) thinking of you both.
No real plans for today, mount ironmore is calling, and some Community stuff to do, and another name to be cross-stitched onto serviettes for the top table for "The Wedding".
Have some steak in the chiller for the protein for tonight, other than that no change to menu plan.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to all those that are feeling sad/poorly x
Wet but mild here this morning.
DH up and getting ready for work - no stupid early start today, he's making the most of it - whilst it lasts!
Yesterday's roast lamb was delicious, did all the trimmings with it. Wasn't a big piece of meat, so none left - but there's some yorkshires, and cauli/broc cheese for another day. Tonight I think we will be eating fish, chips/jacket pot and beans/veg.
We visited the parents yesterday and went to the caravan to take/collect some items in the morning and when we got back I was prepping the veg and cooking the lunch whilst DH and the boys sorted the bolts for the front and back gates - all now safely in situ - I really wanted the bolts at the bottom of the gates but DH thought they would be better part the way down (to far down to reach over the gate to unlock them though). My thought was that then we could padlock them too and it would be a much harder job for someone to get the gate open. We are also going to purchase a security light so when someone comes into the garden/or puts their hand over the gate to unbolt the gate it automatically comes on.
Back to work today for me, no doubt another manic Monday! We'll see.
Keep safe and well x

Good Morning all,
TTFTM - Good Luck and I agree with the others; wear the suit.
Bit drab here today, I think we are due some more heavy rain
WM is on, so will be TD and airer today.
DH has already gone to work, he has a heavy workload today and time constraints.
DS2 has actually got out of bed - he usually leaves it until about 40 mins before he has to leave and then moans he will be late!
DS1 wanted to come home and visit (with his partner) for the weekend with his partner in November, sods law its the same weekend we have a Wedding away from home. I haven't seen him since July. In reality he doesn't live too far away, but because of shifts etc, we don't get to meet very often. Still there is always Christmas...
Walking with my friend this morning, if the rain holds off, then I must do some cleaning before work.
Sausage casserole in the slow cooker for dinner.
Have a good day0 -
Morning all,
Heavy rain here last night really heavy it woke me several times so I am not very with it this morning.
I am back to work today, I'm glad, I am looking forward to the routine DD is at work today too (same place) its nice to know I am near her should she need me.
Little dog to the vets tonight for her booster and a check up.
Jools hope work goes well today xx
TTFTM good luck xx

Good morning all, brought tea & porridge back up to bed this morning, going to let the rest of the house wake when ready. DH asleep on settee, so was probably up in the night sorting out his research which seems to involve a lot of time on tablet remotely running programmes in the lab. DS and NDL (Not daughter in Law, but near enough) and GS are all quiet & abed in the box room. No idea how they manage to turn ver, let alone do silent night time nappy changes. DS is on day off today. Saw DD yesterday pretty early on as she woke up to a major water leak in her flat & called DH out to help, so we went up there with Daxies as an emergency call out, & dropped them off at MIL's for night. She's getting herself quite stressed about an operation she's been waiting for which is finally going to happen on Weds. She can't then do doggy care while she recovers, so it's perhaps as well that I'm on sick. Grim, but good timing. Got to face paperwork re: work issues and up coming finacial dire straits today, sort of job that means I do everything in the house first, so usually end up with a sparkling house and no money. Ah well, onwards and "upwards"?0
