Not surprisedAvailable online only via Steam, not a chart topping one available for Xbox, Playstation, etc!
Plays to his Aspie trait of obsession and detail (build a tank in detail and then have a battle). He's very lucky to have met someone also into it and model making (his other passion) when he moved schools at 11. They'll also be at Tank Fest!Back on the DFW Wagon:

An early update whilst dinner is cooking as popping to Morrie's @ 7pm. We're out of Marmite and M's own brand is 60p cheaper. DS always has it for breakfast on a toasted bagel, so it doesn't bear thinking about the mood he'll be in if I haven't got any! It's an Aspie thing too - routine and all that
I'll see if there are any YS items whilst I'm there.
I've got extra potatoes cooking away too to make 3 cottage pies from the LO beef mince from either the chilli or spag bol batch (I forget!) but another 3 dinners for us from that is great news.
Still no post! I phoned up but didn't fit any of the categories and didn't get any help when I did get a human to speak to. My best bet is to pop into our local sorting office tomorrow and ask I think.
Financials:
- A NSD :j
- bank account checked
- Talk Talk bill is in - the change-over to new package is all clear and as I'd left last month's DD in the budget (which they didn't take), I'm about £5 better off this month, so I'll add £5 to the CC 2 payment
- CC 2 statement is in, will set the payment up for that. Looks like I can safely pay £400 from my current account, on top of that will be DS's online purchase money (£20) and the £2 coins - so £440 this month looks doable. I need one more £2 coin to make £20, hoping to get one tonight as so little spending that there's not much change going into the bucket and tin!
- freepostcodelottery checked
- Nectar adpoints -4 more and up to 62
- Nectar card value - unchanged at £33.69
- Inbox Pounds - have got into the daily swing of this and am up to £13.27 A 5 min survey for 40p was very pleasing
Work has been a bit fiddly with rescheduling some, but managed to keep it in Feb and also booked in another billable day. Just want one more piece to get an average month's income after tax/ni and predicted expenses.
Shall update later with my Morrie's trip and as we are out of snacks and treats, I will need to be focussed and not go wandering down those aisles.
Hope everyone has a good day.Back on the DFW Wagon:

Morries trip done - not sure how it took me an hour when it's only 5 mins down the road :rotfl:
Picked up the Morries Marmite at £1.89 vs £2.49 for the real thing. Dental tape full price 50p and Can't Believe it's not Butter 1kg for £1.37 (half price offer).
YS items:
6 white rolls 9p - perfect for DS lunch boxes
4 cheese muffins 45p - for freezer/weekend
Hovis loaf of bread 15p - for freezer
6 pack pittas 19p - for freezer
Large cauliflower 25p - cauli cheese or added veg
6 pack Apple Pies 45p - there's the treat :rotfl:
No YS meat at all, plenty of breaded fish and salmon, but not reduced enough to tempt me. Avoided the cakes
Total spend £5.64. Off to update grocery thread and sig. DS is happy with stocksBack on the DFW Wagon:

Also another pet hate....supermarket reductions with the wrong sign in front of product!!!! Misleading! Happened to me the other day with a face cream reduced to half price but got charged full price! Grrr!

Sounds like a productive trip. I'm in the process of trying Aldi versions of brands - so far we like the baked beans, real coffee, weetabix, cereal bars, custard, soup, peanut butter and "cup - shotz"! In fact haven't really had any rejects yet.
I like the way they brand them and name them to parody the originals "cupshotz" (Mugshots), Duncan's soups (same as Baxters) etc. Quite funny!
But they save a huge amount on the originals - I think getting up to 50% in some cases - so well worth it.0 -
Hi Miz,
I'm a complete Aldi! convert now and I agree on their brand names and the packaging too. It's quite helpful when first starting off in there as you can see what they're mimicking.
The savings are huge - last time I did a comparison with Sainsbugs prices (yes I sat down with Ald! receipt and mysupermarket website), the total saving was about £9 per week. Even if I didn't have debt, I wouldn't go back to one of the big supermarkets.
Only downside I've found is they don't stock some things all year round - so I can't get bourbon biscuits in ours at the moment, nor chocolate sauce. As I'm learning that, I'll be getting stocks when they do have them!
Just watch out for the odd item here and there that is more expensive. For example, sugar is 85p a bag in Ald! here, but I can get that for 75p in Farm Foods. Marmite is same price as SB, Tesco etc. Similarly with bottled water (DS has to have one for school each day - rules!) and I can get that 24 for £3 in FF rather than 24 for £4 in Ald!. I try and do stops at FF when I'm passing and not a special trip.
It's all about mega-organisation and hard work keeping it up! Which reminds me, must do meal plan before I go to Ald! :rotfl:Back on the DFW Wagon:

Oh that is horrible when that happens - I'd be Grrr . I'm getting more confident though in not being worried by holding people up at the till especially with coupons and vouchers - so my next step would be querying the price and if it is the more expensive, then I'd hope I'd be brave enough to say I don't want itI know I've done it with a half price Sburys clothes item and got the reduction. Always worth checking and asking.
I do watch the price of everything going through that is YS, but in Ald!, blimey they are lightening speed, so I check the receipt at the packing bar and have the odd thing that is a few pence out - I still go back and tell them
I've got 68p to query with Ford on the car settlement - why should I pay £5,806 when the actual amount is £5,805.32! If 100,000 have the same Option plan and purchase at the end as I'm doing, then that is £68,000 Ford are making through consumer laziness. I'm not having that!Back on the DFW Wagon:
