Thanks Judi - it'd be nice to think we've gone full circle from helping ourselves to helping out others more. Reminds me of the story of my Uncle being offered a place at Uni, but my grandparents couldn't afford it, so the wider family and their local community rallied around to pay for it.

It's mortgage update day :j. £760 capital payment has gone off and the total is now £122,180 and stands at 8.4% paid off and 3.55 months shaved off the original end date of September 2027.

    Part 1 - £27,345 - now £24,000
    Part 2 - £106,099 - now £98,180

It should see the interest on Part 2 drop to below £10 per day :j The agonising 10 day wait for the letter to arrive telling me now starts :rotfl:

Sig updated and phone call to them in 10 minutes when they open at 8am - time for another cuppa in that case :D
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18

    Evening Diary :)

Bank phoned at 8am with the mortgage capital payment and also found out the annual statements are being sent out on Monday :j I am soooo excited :rotfl:

Work day very good, shorter day there tomorrow, then back to do biz banking and pay myself for the rest of the month, expenses and a TT :D. Saturday's work will start February off nicely and just 2 more weeks until half term.

Very little snow so far here, wonder what we'll wake up to. Hoping roads will be clear anyway.

    Financials:
    - bank account checked - tentatively looking at £300 to the CC in Feb, though still toying with getting Euros early so may keep it at £240. Will keep a close eye over the coming days and weeks.
    - freepostcodelottery checked
    - Nectar card - at £28.69
    - Inbox Pounds - at £5.54
    - Qmee - empty pot

Dinner was from the freezer batch of turkey curry. Anyone see the BBC1 programme on food shopping/meal planning with Greg Wallace? A family of 4 spending £260 a week, overflowing cupboards and fridge, shopping 3-4 times a week  First in a series.

Definitely an early night tonight, I keep saying it but then sitting on here reading diaries :rotfl:

  • Saying the exact same thing... Really need some sleep!!

I saw bits... I cannot believe all that food and then spending £150...

Next week's one looks good too - brand snob, her reaction in the trailer was totally  I thought the sausages and orange juice info was really good - we have value from concentrate but way cheaper than T3sco (£1) with Ald! at 57p :D. Still alive so can't be bad :D

Oh b*m, QT is on after the news - I do like that :o What to do...stay up and suffer tomorrow or hit the pillow. Decisions, decisions...bit like buying something you want rather than need :D

Lilt, what's the betting Jelly will be up early after a nice long sleep and lay in this morning ;)

£260 per week on food for a family of 4 is shocking but I have to confess to food shopping more than 3-4 times per week. :o I may have a look on iPlayer.

Can't say I understand the "brand snobs", most of the things supermarkets sell are the same.
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

Their "big shop" came to £150 ish, their "top ups" brought it to the £260 figure , yet their cupboards and fridge were full before they got their big shop home  Prepare for jaw dropping to floor if you catch up on it with iPlayer. :D

Wowser! If and when DS did the occasional sleep in, I'd be in his room like a shot...you know, just to make sure he was asleep and nothing else. It was truly rare...as he was mostly in my bed at that age!

Friday night - the good stuff - weekend is here :j paid myself a very healthy month's pay and expenses :j onesie already on :rotfl:

The not good stuff - someone scraped my car whilst I was in the bank :mad::mad: on and above a rear wheel arch (a good foot long) - I *think* the scratch marks (there are loads of them!) might polish out but suspect the one long one is a dent - difficult to tell until I clean it up properly.

That's 3 times in less than a year . Just not worth having a decent car when there are so many carp drivers around and even worse no note left or anything  Will ask a mate to look at it, if it won't come out, he knows someone who can do it so will at least be a little cheaper to sort.

    Financials then:
    - bank account checked. TT of £2.36, making the pot up to £88.37
    - freepostcodelottery checked
    - Nectar the same
    - Inbox Pounds, small move to £5.56
    - Qmee - nothing more still

February things to pay out for:
    - Doglet No.2 boosters
    - Hygienist appointment
    - Sort the March birthdays - 5 close family and friends, Mothers Day so will get those organised

Only 8 weeks until we go on holiday - getting excited :D :j

Happy weekend everyone - work for me tomorrow so going to crack on with housey things tonight and get as much done as possible and then can be slightly more lazy on Sunday :D
