How to fall in love with saving money

I took up this bright idea once- and found that I was wearing out my stair Carpet!!! so had to stop as I would have to change the carpet on the hall and stairs (very large house). A gym is cheaper lol.
Atush, I have got weights and plenty of exercise dvds that I can use, plus an exercise bike, plus two ordinary bikes, so no shortage of options really.
My only hesitation about giving up the gym is that I wouldn't be able to use the pool, which would be a shame, since I like swimming.0 -

I finally got round to dealing with my car today (its battery had gone flat, as those who read this thread may recall). I didn't want to ring the breakdown people as I've had flat batteries in the past and they tend to tell you you need a new battery (cost around £100 .... perhaps they have been right, but it has still bothered me, since I've always wondered if the existing battery just needed recharging but they don't want to do that since the cost would be lower). Anyway, there is a guy who repairs cars three doors down from me so I rang him and he came and had a look at it and (after some initial difficulties because the battery was so very dead) got it started up. Charge £35. So, that's not too bad a result. :beer:0

Not too bad lol.
Strip that Dry cleaning and other stuff from your food budget and put it in household/Misc. Or raise the food budget accordingly?0 -

Hi atush! I tend to stick food/cleaning stuff in the same budget because I buy them from the same place (the supermarket). So perhaps the budget I'm referring to ought to be labelled "supermarket budget"But I do buy food elsewhere sometimes (the market near work). So that wouldn't be strictly accurate, really. What I put in my signature - about it being "food and household bits and bobs" - is correct. Perhaps I've been overly harsh on myself in expecting it to be lower, but many people do seem to be able to live on far less.
