How to fall in love with saving money

Have transferred another £50 to the pot ... think I can spare it from my pay for November, with maybe more towards the end of the month. So, that's nearly £600, with another two weeks to go.0

I have been paid by 3 clients as well as the agency today!
I want to save £150 but i need to buy Christmas presents instead.0 -
Good news, WantToBeSE
I have to give some thought today to where my last £420 is going to come from to meet my November goal.

From today, that's it. Traded in my car for a smaller cheaper Desiel, never ever depositing money into an online bookie ever again, that has ruined my life for years. Downgrading my mobile phone and going to start saving like mad. I'm originally from Australia as well, everyone thinks I'm crazy for wanting to live here in the cold weather.
One thing I remember that used to help me to save was making sure I had some goal for the money as it's really hard to save just for the sake of it. When I was younger and planning my first trip to Europe I remember everytime I went to spend some money on something I really didn't need I would think in terms of my trip that it could mean an extra day in Europe, or have more money for entrance fees to attractions, etc. It really helped me focus on my spending.Starting Mortgage Balance: £264,800 (8th Aug 2014)

Goals are a definite, you need to know where you are heading and why. I have many goals. The ultimate being go part time at 50. That seems to be an age in this industry that health starts detolirating quicker than you can stop it. Iv taken lunches with me every day this week so I'm doing well
also savings look to be upto £5,000odd so a total of £14k this year, need a final push in December for my £15k goal!! Weather depending job though and it's forecast minus 8 and snow storms all next week.
Will just had to be extra frugal. I am away for 3 weekends before Xmas!! Keeping really busy I'm sure the 4 or 5 weeks will soon fly in.:eek:Living frugally at 24

Sounds good, ALM2013 - come and join the party:beer:
My thought on online bookies is "definitely best avoided". Always held them in huge suspicion and glad I did. Though I did do a bit of matched betting back in the day, and made a little money, but it was a faff, so I stopped after a while.0 -

Thanks, 115KAnd to you
 Your goals sound good. I think I'm going to join the £12,000 in 2014 challenge - it's doable, and will keep me focussed.

YoungBusinessman, you've started saving so early you might be able to retire altogether at 35!! :j:j:j Going part-time sounds fabulous though - I'd like to do that too. May or may not be able to.
