I have no idea what you're talking about but hope it's nothing serious to worry about!

On a note of something that I DO have a clue about/ £2 added to the £ tin last night and another £4 tonight. I've been neglecting this of late so it was nice to make a couple of deposits. There's starting to be a nice bit of weight to the tin now. It's still really early days but I'm already imagining how much there'll be in there when we open it!

    It's the little things...haha
    CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

July debt total: £24,630.44 | New debt total: £18,316.34 | Total debt paid: £6,414.10 (26%)

I was saving £3 into a jar every day but got out of the habit in my last week of holidays recently, but should start again, as it does add up very nicely very quickly. :)

atush, would really like to know why you are not worried, if you don't mind saying. Is he right that you shouldn't have too much with one broker? ...

    I'm not nervous.

Sorry, i'd gone to bed lol

Mainly because where i have nominee accts, I have less than 50K each. And because I just don't see it happening, w/o fraud involved in which case i can see any losses being made good thru insurance and the parent companies.

Once you get over 50K in your S&S isa, then i'd look at opening a new one with a different provider lol.
  • Hi Cathy,

We are about to move from H-L to Interactive Investor and this is what they state about security of investments.

By the way - you never did tell me the name of your hotel in the Marais district of Paris.

organic wanabe, so sorry!! I went to Copenhagen, then I was ill with a flu bug when I got back, so it escaped my mind. It was the Castex Hotel - nice little hotel, reasonably priced. That courtyard they show in the photos with the metal table was right outside my room, think they took the pic from inside it! I ate a tarte aux framboises at the table. Thanks for the link to the security question. :)

atush, fair enough - I won't worry about it till I get to £50K :)

Morning all :) I hope everyone is having an MSE day today. I don't know about anyone else but I was very pleased about the savings changes proposed in yesterday's Budget. I said to my boss, "They've put the Isa limits up to £15,000!!" and he looked at me and said "I don't have any money to save." I thought, "I bet you do, you just don't save it." Could be wrong there of course. Before October last year I wouldn't really have been thinking about Isa limits. So it just goes to show how much the savings habit can change ways of thinking. :)

Given your boss earns more than you, he needs to get over to MSE and learn to save lol.

Hope everyone here is putting more into DC pensions now (even if they have a DB one).

Hadn't thought about the pension but maybe I should. I remember now I was thinking about additional contributions to the work one. But if the Isa limit goes up to £15,000 that might be pretty much the limits of what I can squirrel away for now anyway.

Well I hope everyone's had a good MSE day, I've been studying hard for my UK citizenship test so haven't posted so much the past few days. It's tomorrow and I'm nervous - wish me luck! :)
