  • Well its Thursday, and this fortnights rent hasn't been paid :( I've sent a message to the tenants but so far haven't heard anything back. We can cover this for now - I am thanking my lucky stars I had my LBM a while ago and started to get in a position to be able to handle this situation, but to be honest we aren't yet where I would like us to be and if it goes on for more than this two weeks it will really hit us hard.

Honestly, just when you feel like you're getting a grip on things eh? Grrrrrr.....

  • Ugh, neither of the tenants are responding to my messages - this is their main mode of communication with us and it is VERY unusual for them not to reply. I'm leaving it for the rest of the day in case they're having some sort of family issue, and will plan how to tackle it over the weekend. Sooooooooo frustrating :(

  • Fingers crossed they get it sorted soon - that's really not good.

  • Thanks guys - not looking good on the rent, they've not replied which has never happened before, so my father in law is going to do a drive by tonight to see if there are any signs of life in the house just in case they've decided to do a bunk (this wouldn't be the worst outcome, tbh). If they are around then I'll start ringing them on Monday, if no answer send letters, if no sign in a couple of weeks we'll issue notice etc etc. They are on housing benefit so we can start claiming some of it direct from the council but only after 8 weeks of arrears, and I'm not hanging around that long with no action!! I don't think they'll go without a fight though.........

Brizzle - I too am envious of the skiers at the minute!! My Aunty and Uncle have just got back from Austria and insisted on sharing their photos today - beautiful!! But very green-eyed-monster inducing  Or if I'm in positive mode I should say 'very motivational' ;)

Due date is 4 weeks - I don't dare put the exact date on as I'm still fearful I might know someone on here!

There's quite a lot of other money stuff going on this week too - things we hadn't even considered have been presenting themselves to us so both mine and DH's heads are a bit mashed. I will attempt to make more sense of it by getting it all down on here but perhaps not tonight, tonight is for cake and bed!! :T

Keep on keeping on people :)

Know what you mean re head feeling mashed by finance stuff...with you on that one!

Also hope you got a restful night. My recollection of the last few weeks of pregnancy was being uncomfortable and waking often!

Thanks Brizzle, I'm actually sleeping quite well when DS lets me, unfortunately he was teething last night and up loads, but its never quite as painful on the weekend. He was desperately tired going to bed tonight so I'm really hoping he gives it a good 14 hours tonight :)

So, to try to de-mash my weary sleep deprived brain, the following is an update of recent events and thoughts:
    • Until a couple of weeks ago, we were happy(ish) being a one car family. We have a sizeable, decent estate which DH uses for work and I have whenever he is working from home or away on the train. Now, as part of his job role change, it seems part of a potential salary increase is the opportunity to join to company car scheme. So, a few brain baffling evenings have been spent trying to work out whether we would be better off with him on the scheme, or not.
    • It seems we would be better off with him on the scheme, which would leave us with a huge car with finance on it. I don't want or need such a big car with such a big finance payment, so we'd have to look at getting me a more appropriate car - hurrah!! :j However, at this moment the car is in negative equity, booooooo :(
    • The plan for us has always been to pay off our debts and then think about moving house. However this week we found out about a house coming on the market soon in our ideal location, and we were invited to view it today.
    • We did view it, and its a HUGE project house but with the potential to be amazing. So..... we're getting our house valued this week and seeing a financial advisor too, to see if there is any way we could make this happen or to completely put it out of our minds. I have a feeling he might laugh in our face though ;)
    • I have to say I can't believe we're even considering any of the above. I think I may have gone a little bit mad.
    • On top of all this, we're having a baby in about 4 weeks.
    • On top of this, the tenants haven't paid and have disappeared off the face of the earth.
Honestly!! When I've put it all down on here it still doesn't seem any less crazy, what on earth are we thinking?! Like I say, when we see the advisor and he nearly passes out from the info we give him I think at least we can forget about the house.

Seriously, I hope everyone is having more settled weekends than me! :)

  • Come on Daisy, if you don't ask you don't get. You never know!

Once you have seen the financial advisor person you will know what the deal is.

it's all a bit crazy but playing it safe is so boring! believe me I know!

    XXXXX
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Seconded what the buffster says - she knows her stuff and lifes about the ride, not the seatbelt.

Just mind on you pop it on before you press go though.............

And, remember you're near your DD so canny lass, canny.

Ooh...exciting stuff my lovely. Very exciting.

I too have been plotting and it's a real one for mashing your brain I agree!! but as Pippi says it's the ride not the seatbelt. But as long as it's thoughtful I don't see the harm....;)
