E-fags are a heating coil which vaporises propylene glycol (usually), nicotine, water and flavours. Most of the 'smoke' is actually steam, with a teensy bit of burnt propylene glycol. PG is what is used in nightclub smoke machines, and has very low odour in itself (it's a sugar). Almost all the smell from efags is down to additive flavours (none from water or trace amounts of nicotine) - and they really hardly smell at all. If you go in a room where one was used 5 seconds before, you'd never know - the steam has dissipated, the smell is certainly less than the aroma of a typical travelodge room.

e-fags have zero tar, plenty of nicotine, and many funky flavours. Are they safer than real fags - almost without doubt, but it hasn't been proved one way or the other in randomised trials over lifetimes etc. Do they smell less? Absolutely.
This is a true description of e-cig. I have been using them for 2 years. However while I do believe they are better then normal cig ( no tar and chemicals) be careful. They say that nicotine itself is not harmful ( well no more then caffeine) so I smoked my cig quite a lot (12mg ) and after about 10 months my cholesterol has gone from normal to very high. I did some more research I found that nicotine alone can give you high cholesterol. Changed now to zero nicotine juice and cholesterol gone back no normal but it took some time.

When I say they were not smoking I meant in the room, and me out of the room was me in the toilet for about a minute so if they in that time had rolled one, lit it up and smoked it without me noticing that would be impressive especially as there was nothing in the room to stub it out on without noticing and there would of been a lingering smell, and the room was ensuite so I would of noticed a fag lit I am a non smoker and have very sensitive smell of smoke to the point where I could smell sewage outside of the room so the woman claiming she could smell smoke outside must have a strange nose to not notice the sewage but the "smoke" and the lighter was there as they planned to roll up and go downstairs so got the things out of their pocket only just before the staff came round, sorry was a bit annoyed at the time and was late so did not reply with everything.

When I say my friend smells of smoke on his clothes, if he bends near me or stands near me I can smell it, if I walk in the room and hes not there I smell nothing, if I stand up and walk near him I smell smoke considering she was standing next to my 2 friends who are smokers she could of easily picked up a smell of smoke from them

Anyway I spoke to the reception today who admitted a ecig can set the flashing alarms off and I am not the first person to report this or the attitude of the night staff and apologised and just said if ANY type of smoke is detected in the room be it ecig, a fire or a cigarette the sensor is set off.

So it was a sensor that went off rather than someone outside the door that smelt smoke.

I am also a non smoker, but do sell these e-cigs, yes they give off smoke and odour, then only thing they dont give out is nicotine. some places still class using these as smoking.

Also as other say what was the lighter for if no one was smoking.

They don't give out smoke, they give out vapour of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin that doesn't smell like smoke at all, and most do give nicotine, that's the whole point of them.

No idea, I was just told a sensor but the woman last nights "evidence" was that she smelt smoke in the room and saw a lighter

It could well of been someone trying to spite us i.e they are thin walls and I know there was someone in next room so they may have done it to make us be quiet as we were talking though if it was that it backfired as the friend who visted was almost about to leave and I planned on going to bed about a hour after that but ended up staying awake for 2 and a half hours after they came round.

Thinking about it when my friends arrived I put a few songs on the laptop for about 20 minutes that may have annoyed someone but they would have to be quite uptight to hear a weak laptops speakers and people talking and report it when we were only in the hotel for under a hour overall talking and it was a Friday night etc.

BTW what is my rights over the guest thing as it was never explained to me nor do they mention it anywhere on their terms

Forget the guest thing. You had a twin room and someone else there gone 11pm. I believe the legal term is "taking the ****"
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.

Well im sooooo sorry my friends mum had recently died and I only just found out and wanted to be company for him.

Is it not logical that someone in a hotel may get guests for a short stay especially when they were actually close to leaving when he was demanded to leave ur or so or do you think its reasonable that I would have to go out in the pouring rain to speak to someone and funnily enough get people smoking in my face and make my friend even more uncomfortale.

Is it so bad that people in their twenties have friends?

Since my friend was about to go anyway and it was around 11.15 it happened he would of been gone before midnight which is a reasonable time especially when the staff only lock the front doors at midnight

Added to the fact me and my friends all have aspergers and the 3 of us are pretty much the only real friends each other has is it that bad that we want to chat for a short while, we did nothing illegal spoke a little not even sure if loud yet people were slamming doors in the hall and talking at loud volumes yet sitting down in a room relaxing is bad?

You cannot treat a hotel like your own home and have guests turning up at 11PM. you paid for a twin room for 2 people, at 11pm a third person turns up, this would disturb other guests at the hotel and as far as the hotel know you pay for 2 people and then sneak a third person in to sleep.

now you say you all have aspergers, is this just to try and save face in this thread. It would mean nothing to the hotel.

Such a sad state of world that the worst is assumed of someone.

What had happened was we went out for a meal and driven there and back by friend and we decided to not have him rush off and relax a bit especially with his mum having recently died.

And also the hotel is actually aimed at young people and advertises how they can cater for stag and hen nights or big groups of people, its sort of a hotel/hostel hybrid and during the night I heard people come back at all hours but that did not disturb me.

I am actually normally the sort of person who is so quiet that people do not realise is even around it was just my friend was so depressed I wanted to talk to him and be nice.

And yes we all have aspergers, if you check some of my previous threads such as in the benefit section you will see I have issues with depression and aspergers and other health issues.

The funny thing is also none of us drink and 2 young men in their twenties wanting to go to bed around midnight is seen as strange these days so the fact we were just talking and polite we find it strange that when people were having parties and the place was above 1 pub, and next to one of the busiest roads in the city centre where even with the windows closed you hear traffic and the streets full of drunks that a few people politely talking would be something bad, if anyone had knocked on their door and said they had to be up early as long as they were polite about it I would of apologised and quietened down.

Do you think its good for someone who has aspergers who mum just died and suffers from depression to be told to go home after giving people a lift? I would find that impolite.

People have strange morals these days, I do not get drunk and bother people, do not take drugs, I dont even smoke as I do not like it yet talking to a friend on a Friday night in a student area in accomodation aimed at young people is seen as bad!

Quite hard to fit a 3rd person into between 2 tiny bunk beds when the room was so small you can just about touch the edge of walls with your feet .
