Totally disagree .
Certainly would not buy it at the current price though .0 -
If Classic Shell hadn't existed I'm pretty sure that my new laptop would be running some Linux variant or other or more probably Win 7 as I do have a spare copy I could use (bought because I couldn't stand Vista).
Whatever genius in Microsoft thought it was a good idea to make a desktop/laptop have a front end designed (? is that an overstatement) for a mobile phone should be sacked imo. If they think forcing millions of desktop/laptop users to have a phone front end on their machines will in any way boost their mobile sales I reckon they are wrong and they'll have to keep on subsidising the phone hardware blighted with Windows mobile to shift it.
I won't be bothering with downloading and installing 8.1 but assume I'll get it in some service pack or other sometime.0 -
Windows phones will go the way of Blackberry, into a technology footnote along with Betamax, Prestel and the Emailer telephone.
Balmer has left the sinking ship, Bill is only interested in saving African children, so things don't look good. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
FAIL!!! stay with W7 if you value your sanity.
I use Mac and I'll never go back, well not as a main system, I have W8 in Vmware just for tech support but I think its terrible without a touch screen and mildly tolerable with a touch screen and a Local Account.
I have Classic Shell installed.
A few more utilities to look for to make your W8 more W7.- Classic Shell (installed)
- BootUITuner
- Ribbon Disabler
- SigninBackgroundColor
- SkipMetroSuite
- Stardock Start8 (paid)
- winrmanager
- StartscreenAnimationsTweaker
- WinMenuEditorRelease

Wimps I downloaded 8.1 tonight and it is all of the above and then some, good points and bad. But nobody said anything about the fact it comes with Powershell , go and research a bit and make your Windows a cross between Windows and Unix based os'es, the world could be your lobster Rodders4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . I suspect PowerShell isn't something most folk are going to care about.
It's been included with Windows for a while I think, since either Vista or 7.0 -

I personally 8.1, but then windows 8 didn't scare the living hell out of me either, despite the fact that it's, you know, different.0
