Had one about 10 Years ago which gave me the flu. Never had one since then and never would again. ;)

The flu vaccination does not give you the flu.

I started having mine when I lived in Spain at about age 60 as I got them free (as my husband's dependent).

Here I have to pay as I am not yet 65 nor in a risky group.

My husband has always had to pay here, but this year has not had to, I told them he'd had pleurisy and pneumonia in the past and he got it free. I told them this last year too, but he still had to pay. Next year he will be 65, so he won't have to pay again.

My son gets it done through his work, so does his girlfriend.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • I had my flu jab on Saturday.

I have it every year - only in my 50s but I am in an 'at-risk' group so get the jab for free.

Planning to attend a drop-in session at GP surgery on Saturday.

When I was a sessional teacher (working 5 days a week for the same place), regular employees were offered free flu jabs but sessional teachers weren't because if we had flu and couldn't work they wouldn't pay us. So that was cost saving for the employer.

I believe that, if you do them any earlier, the coverage doesn't last until the end of the flu season.

    We had ours this week.
yes, that is also true, it's a balancing act

I had my first one in 1979 or 1980 and have had one every year since; never had flu in 35 years. And never paid for it.
