Which bank offers the best internet banking?

Hello Moneysavers!
I recently switched banks, from Santander to First Direct - taking advantage of the £125 switching offer.
First Direct's internet banking is terrible. Really, really terrible. This came as a bit of a shock to me as being primarily an online bank I would expect that they would be leading the pack.
It's a deal breaker as I use internet banking almost daily. This is the main way that I use my bank. My needs are simple; I never visit the branch, and almost never phone them - maybe a handful of times in the past ten years. I just want a good and capable online banking interface - preferably with a good mobile app.
So it looks like I will be switching again.
Which bank would you recommend?

I bank online with Nationwide, Lloyds, Halifax and Co-op and I find I get on best with Nationwide. I don't really use the Lloyds one very much as I only use it to service some vantage accounts but I don't like the interface. Halifax is Ok but I have had recent issues with paying money in at their ATM.
I have banked with Nationwide since 1985 and online almost from the start of the online banking system and have never had an issue with them.0 -

First Direct's internet banking is not as advanced as most of the other banks', but to say it's "really, really terrible" is an exaggeration. You can do most of what you'd want to do with it; just in a clunky way.
They have said they will be updating it soon, but they can't say when.0 -
For pure online banking Barclays or Nationwide get my vote
Both use card readers which may be a plus or minus for you and I'm told Barclays has a good mobile app though I've never used it0 -
The best one is usually the one you used first and are most used to.

Halifax online banking is 100% the same as Lloyds, just different colours.0 -
What's the problem with First Direct, you don't specify. First Direct is my main account and I have always found them very efficient."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

I also like FD's online banking."You know when it's cold outside when you go outside and it's cold"0 -

First Direct (styled as first direct) is a telephone and internet-based retail bank in the United Kingdom,"You know when it's cold outside when you go outside and it's cold"0
