What is the problem with FD on-line banking? I haven't encountered any problems (yet.....hope I'm not speaking too soon...).0

I am looking at banks as a person who rarely ever needs to talk to anyone in a bank, and who is interested more in savings rather than loans or overdrafts. FD lets me do what I need to do - which is one or two transactions a year. I loathe what their online banking looks like and I loathe the navigation but not enough to give their Regular Saver a miss.
I find it most unlikely that I would ever let a bank's online facilities determine whether I like their financial products or not. In the case of FD, even if they had the sexiest, most efficient and most secure online facilities in the market, I would still only ever use them as long as they have a decent Regular Saver, or other comparable interest paying account.
Literally all banks have more modern and easier to use online facilities than FD. Lloyds, TSB, BOS, Nationwide, Santander do in addition have very good offerings for people looking for interest-paying accounts. So it is possible to have a good product portfolio and a good online presence.0 -
I've used Lloyds/TSB, Halifax, Co-Op, First Direct, Nationwide, AA, and maybe one or two others. For me, Lloyds/TSB is the best and easiest, not least because you don't need to carry a sodding card reader around.
Nationwide is OK but seems overly complicated - it sometimes takes me a while to figure out how to do something simple.0 -
I've used Nationwide and Santander. Although the differences are slight, I do prefer Santander - it seems smoother and more intuitive. I also like the way it makes simple things simple and only gets more complicated when it absolutely has to. Nationwide is very slightly more clunky.
Santander's mobile phone based security is also more flexible than Nationwide's card reader.0 -
Another vote for Nationwide here. Since they refreshed it last year, it's very straightforward to use. I can't remember the last time I had to use a cardreader.
Halifax/Lloyds etc comes a close second, but their mobile app isn't as good as Nationwide's.
Santander not far behind.0 -
