Bank Account

Options
Hi,
I'm with Barclays and i've got a Barclays Bank Account, i hate his online banking it's horrible and i need a good bank with offices because i'm not interested in first direct or think money i want a bank to go to the offices to solve any problem.

Can you give me alternatives to Barclays and explain me what its the best account?
I only need a debit card and a basic account for my money, my savings...

Thanks,
Javier.

I have accounts with Lloyds, Santander and Nationwide. I do everything online and don't see any problems.

That said, I have accounts with Barclays too and don't see anything 'horrible' with it's online banking either.

Have a look at these recent threads:

  • I don't know, you need the PINSentry to do operations in online banking and practically only serves to see your statement. I do not know, is there a better account of the Barclays Bank Account?

Nationwide have PINSentry too, but you can login without it and in fact you need it for major operations only, like setting a new payee.

Santander and Lloyds don't use it at all, but rely on your mobile phone for major transactions (IIRC, at Lloyds you can chose between a mobile and a landline every time it is needed).

I rarely use my pinsentry, you can undertake most day to day banking without it.

I prefer the one that gives something to me. That's why I have so many accounts with different banks.
Barclays gives me nothing and is sort of abandoned.
Nationwide gives me free EU travel insurance and 5% interest on £7.5K.
Lloyds currently is paying me 4% interest on £6K.
FD pays me 6% on my regular saving account.
Santander 123 pays me cashback on my bills and 3% interest.

If I were you I'd consider switching to Santander with £47ish TCB cashback.
  • How about the select account from natwest?

It makes no sense to discuss this without knowing what you actually want.
So far we know only that you don't like card readers. At Natwest you don't need it for logging in.

But you can log in at Barclays without it as well, so I'm not convinced card readers are the cause.
  • I need basically a new account.
