Without going over the last 6 pages, I just did a benefits calculation with £20k and 3 children and came up with £225 per week in benefits givingyour daughter around £540 per week net income.

If you live a tourist area, is there a local weekly market? Could you look into producing something to sell between you? Baked goods, preserves etc?

You mentioned that the village was a tourist area and has a number of older residents, so can you offer services? Cleaning, ironing, pet walking/sitting, collecting shopping for the elderly, or babysitting of an evening for tourists in their holiday homes which could be advertised locally.

  • Having read though this thread...you have been given some really good advice about cutting your cloth accordingly.... All of which was met with excuses..or ignored.

The thing is....if you want to live an nice comfortable life...you work for it...you can't sit back and expect handouts...or the government to solve all your problems...if there's no work...move....yes your daughter may have lived there all her life..but that's the choice..if she doesn't want to move...budget. This is what everyone else does.
I'm having to move away from where I grew up, because I can't afford to live there...tough luck but thems the breaks.

Might I also add that the amount your daughter recieved is more than a lot of hardworking people.... Suck it up
Its all mind over matter. I don't mind and you don't matter:rotfl:

I think, OP, you need a reality check. Your daughter chose to have a number of children without apparently the means to support them and has various excuses as to why she cant work. Expecting the state to throw more money at her is simply beyond belief. She chose this life and needs to fund it.

As a parent, if it was my child, i'd be telling them to move or learn to drive and to get work asap.
