Oh well now you've bolded that misinformation that makes it much more true. Think about what you're bolding for Christ's sake. ILLEGAL TOBACCO KILLS 4K!!1111 Yeh, and legal tobacco kills probably 100 times more, so what's your point. Sensationalist, misleading nonsense. The fact that you're using it as an argument just points out how ignorant you are."It is reported that illegal tobacco is responsible for four times as many deaths as drugs, and that 4,000 fewer people would die each year from smoking-related illnesses in the UK if tobacco smuggling were wiped out.
And because illegal cigarettes are far cheaper - up to half the price of legal ones - they make it easier for children to take up the habit, encourage people to smoke more, and make it harder for smokers to quit."
Governments charge large amounts of tax on things like tobacco to fund the NHS, education and other necessities. Tax evasion on tobacco is a contributory factor in cuts in these areas, much as you might like to think it isn't.
As for your spiel on governments and tax, you're clueless. Try reading some books instead of relying on the information you very clearly get from the media and the government themselves. Start with the 'idiots' guide to banking and the economy. Clueless.0 -
Some government body decided to make it illegal to buy and sell a PLANT without paying massive taxes on it. Because I choose to ignore those who I never elected to rule over me, in a peaceful and dignified manner, does not make me a criminal in anyone's eyes except theirs and people like you who need to be spoonfed their own lives in manageable chunks.
I'll pick and choose what 'rules' I decide to follow. I hurt no-one, so i'll do as I like.
Learn to think for yourself, or you could just remain ignorant like Dun.

Thanks for all your suggestions, I will go through them all again later today. Who knows, we might not need the caves after all, just a pony and cart.

£20000 a year with three little kids and one parent working can be done. I've been in that situation for last three years and we make it work. We are a family of five, one husband one wife and three little children (once three under 5) and earning £19000 a year now but at first only earning 15600 (enough to qualify for nowt lol) we get child benefit and ctc and have always managed. We have a mortgage which is reasonable and with it comes house repairs, my dh runs a car to be able to get to work and do the big shop. We cut our cloth accordingly, no addictions here, but we can have the odd night out, we can afford a holiday (camping based usually a deal) christmas and birthdays are all celebrated, we have days out (with a packed lunch) but we make it work. When i left work to have my kids i knew we'd be on one wage so i took on the budget and I make sure we get the best deal on everything, complete with cashback. (currently waiting on a £160 payout from quidco. A statement of affairs may help and then we could help you with ideas of switching to different suppliers to save money. (If using cashback site tyou could also make some money too.) I make sure i get the best price on everything. I couldn't work either due to my dh's non set shift pattern, and lack of affordable childcare. I would double check with tax credits that you are getting the right amount though.Jan 2015 GC £267/£260

The other posters believe that your daughter's household is either receiving £2200 per month in benefits and employment income which is £507 per week, or should be receiving this. Taking off the rent and CT would leave the household with around £364 per week.
Suggest the OP takes her daughter through the budget planner here
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/banking/Budget-planning
That way, the OP may understand her daughter's true income and expenses, then formulate a way to slash spending as per the advice on the entire MSE site, such as finding the cheapest tariffs for energy, insurance, telecoms/broadband, cheap groceries and recipes, etc. The Old Style moneysaving board has a good reputation for frugality. For example, there are websites with recipes that feed a family of 4 for a month for £100.0 -
I have made notes of the decent suggestions fowarded on here and will act on them accordingly. Everybody has their own problems and everyone is entitled to their own opinions. Some opinions are worth looking into and some are best ignored.
In my mind home is where the heart is, I try to make the best of what we've got. Life's too short to be miserable. Smile, the sun is shining!!!!!0 -

Did you put in an official written request or just an inquiry? quite often it's a different response when put in writing. I used to take Ironing in for a few people (I was working round the kids) and was was given the OK from the HA that we were living under at the time ( In honesty I only officially asked due to having nightmare neighbours at the time who would have most likely reported me) worth a try if you haven't.0 -
Sounds as though your daughter and/or son in law are wasting a lot of money somewhere.
Have you checked neither have debts? There is lots of support on here if they have so iit's worth finding out.
My other thought, going on others I know, is one of them may be gambling. It's very easy to get over your head with just access to a computer at home.0
