  • I agree Skinny.........long may it last.

I got my prescription sunnies today and I love them. They look so trendy in comparison to my old ones.

Spent £3.19 in Morrisons on fry light and yogurts. Used a £1 off voucher and got 8 shape yogurts for £1. Fry light is ridiculous though at £2.19. I don't like the flora one but was only a couple of pence cheaper anyway.

Grass is cut at last. Garden definitely looks much better now. DS was very proud of his work. He has been a royal pain today and I threatened to cancel the Edinburgh trip as I wasn't going to spend 2 days in close proximity to him if he was going to continue. He drives me crackers with his moods and he is so pass remarkable that I can't do a thing without him commenting on it. I honestly don't know how I have survived for 49 years without his incredible advice . Eejit. He better wisen up or I will kick his !!!! good and proper.

Beautiful day here today. Slight shower earlier but soon dried up and sun has been splitting the skies since. I wouldn't mind 2 weeks of this thank you very much.

Washing machine and fridge coming tomorrow so I am looking forward to that. I got a fridge without an ice box so I have an extra shelf of space. This is great as I am always running out of space in the one I have just now because I buy so much fresh food. My washing machine is rubbish so I am really looking forward to that being replaced. I am saving my washing up to test it out . Ha ha I really am a saddo.

I hope you have all had a lovely day xx

Woo hoo - it's all happening for you :T:T

I know the washer and fridge are a spend you could do without, but if your food stays fresher longer (if it's not all eaten first :D) and your clothes won't need replacing as not marked by rust, it's an investment and the cheaper option overall. Great news it's covered by your bonus though.

Loving all the extra good financial news - on an excellent roll. :j

  • Long may it continue :D

INOD it just shows what you can do when you put your mind to it for trips.

Moomin here's our itinerary see what you think

    Thurs-
    Hop on Hop off bus-£28
    Museum of childhood- Free
    Tour of Scottish Parliament- Free
    Dynamic Earth- £22
Art gallery if we have time- free
Dinner nando's- £25 (main and drinks only)
    Cinema- Free

    Friday
    Scotland museum- Free
    Castle- Free
Camera obscura- £21.50 (10% discount from buying bus tickets)
    other food and sundries £30
    Total (hopefully :rotfl:) £126.50 :D

We will also wander along Princes Street. Luckily neither of us like shopping very much so that will not tempt us. Food will be 2 lunches and any drinks etc we need. I'll try and get DS to just get a sandwich for lunch but we'll see. I don't want trip to be ruined by being too frugal but I also do not want to blow the budget. Bus ticket lasts for 24 hours so if we are smart we can use it on the Friday morning to get to the museum and then walk back to the castle ( realistic?) dunno. We also want to have a wee trip on the trams as DS wants to take pics of them and he's never been on a tram. Getting excited now :D

Depending on where your hotel is, you could save by not getting the hop on hop off bus. Edinburgh is a teeny tiny city really and I would suggest you start with Dynamic Earth then the Scottish Parliament (as they're next door to each other and I presume you have a time booked for the latter) The Museum of Childhood is halfway up the Royal Mile, so you can head up there afterwards and there's plenty of wee cafes on the way where you could grab a sandwich for lunch. A 35 bus would then take you to Cineworld which is where I'm guessing you're going to the pictures if there's Nando's :D

A day ticket for Lothian Buses is £3.50 each and if you sit downstairs and tell them where you're going, most bus drivers will yell when it's your stop. If DS wants a tram, the day ticket covers them too, which the bus tour ticket won't. You've budgeted £28 for bus ticket tours, but two days of day tickets will only cost you £14 :money:

Walking from the Museum (presuming you mean the museum of Scotland) to the Castle will take you about 10-15 minutes so that's absolutely do-able. Get yourself a wee pocket map of the city centre - most hotels will have them for free.

    Hope that's a help!!
  • Thanks Moomin. I'll have a think about the bus. We will be going to the OMNI centre as hotel is just across from the theatre so it's very central. I'll download a map. I've got a small one already but no details in it. I'll take comfy shoes ;). Will be good for the weight loss if we walk.

Washing machine and fridge coming today. I've paid £20 for them to take washing machine away and to fit it for me. My brother would have done it for me but I reckon £20 is well worth it for the service. I'll drop fridge down at skip myself. It should fit in the car.

Only thing I have planned today is fat club tonight. I am going to do ironing and make a start on my kitchen cupboards.

    Back laters xx

  • Washing machine and fridge delivered and 1st washing is on :). I reckon the £20 I paid for fitting and recycling was well worth it. The delivery guys were great and done and dusted within 15 minutes. They couldn't take my old fridge as I didn't think that was included and didn't defrost it.

DS is away for a haircut so when he comes back we will get the fridge into place and get the old one out front to defrost and tomorrow I will take it to skip. I can hardly hear the washing machine as well which is a bonus.

  • Evening all. 2lbs off tonight at fat club so that's a stone now :D. Taken me 6 weeks slog. I have another 7 weigh ins before Alcudia so I will try for another stone by then. I'm just plodding along. I made the SW chicken biryani tonight and it was fabulous. It'll definitely be a favourite from now on. Loved it. Had a big plate of chopped fruit afterwards so am feeling nicely full now. Starting tomorrow I am going to start some body magic. Only need to do 15 minutes 3 times per week to get my bronze award. Anything is better than nothing.

Spends today are £6 for DS's haircut, £3.90 for snack bars in SW, £1.90 for magazine and 50p for raffle. £1.25 for milk as well. Not too bad.

My washing machine has a 1500 spin cycle, Wowsa!! My washing was nearly dry when it came out. 1 hr outside and it is bone dry. I really noticed when I as carrying it out to hang it up as basket was so light. Very happy chappy :D
