  • omg omg omg !!! remember I was bemoaning the fact that Halifax were offering me a balance transfer and wouldn't give me it. Well, I always access my accounts for HBOS via the halifax site but tonight I went on via the BOS site and lo and behold I had a balance transfer of 18mnths @ 0%. I am !!!!-a-hoop here. Just knocked 5 months off of my DFD and £1750.00 saved in interest alone. It cost me £117 to transfer it over but wowsa I am a happy chappy. I only have 1 card now on ridiculous interest. So pleased :-). I'll not sleep now as I'm so excited. Saddo that I am

  • how much will the interest saving bring forward your debt free date? hopefully to the end of the 0% period. also, maybe if your cake hadn't been so dire, you may not have lost so much weight.

  • Brings DFD forward by 5 months but I will most definitely be needing another balance transfer at the end of the 18 months. My snowball is at 64 months . I have been playing about with it tonight though and made a small overpayment of £6.65 which actually took £10.17 off of snowball which is a result. So I really am going to try and overpay as much as I possibly can as every penny I overpay appears to reduce balance by 1.5 times. Well worth the effort to do it. Now I have always known this but these figures are really showing me just how worth it it is.

Working an extra shift for my friend tomorrow night which will get me £50 so that will go to the debt as well. No sign of maintenance yet  which is a worry. If I don't get it then I will survive but Edinburgh ill need to be cancelled and I have lots of plans. We want to go to the castle, camera obscura, dynamic earth, scotland museum and parliament buildings. I wanted to do a wee overnight stay so we don't need to rush. Fingers crossed ex pays what he should.

PLMBL my DD didn't come in until 1.15am this morning from work so nope not much sleep here either xx

INOD cake was practically free on slimming world so I could have eaten the whole thing and not batted an eyelid. Am gutted I don't like it :(

Verbatim it is loads saved but I have had a real issue with myself today as the devil is obviously in my head and it's stupidly telling me I have £1.5k to spend !!! I mean !!!!!! !! I need to make sure I win this battle .

I'm having a wee chill night tonight as will be a late one tomorrow xx

Hope the maintenance money has arrived and hope you're not too worn out after working extra tonight.

Well done on the BT, that's a brilliant help. :T I found once I started and got one 0% offer, more rolled in, so hopefully that'll happen for you too - although there's the usual BT fee, it saved more than it cost over time and I had a spreadsheet all of it's own to track end dates of 0% periods and which card needed to be freed up etc :D

Keep doing the snowball thing - it's a great motivator to see what those little amounts add to up and how much extra they knock off.

Are you going to try making the cake again? :)
