Oh really.... has it crossed your mind that I may be wondering about general state of the system and using my daughter as an example to prove how inefficient it is?

When I started work (many moons ago, I know) .

Many moons ago people had no heating/gas/electric/cars/phones etc - shall we go back there?

The point in life is to move forward not stay in one place or move back - simples.

Wasn't quite that long ago :rotfl:
  • Op I am glad your daughter has not been pushed down a route inappropriate for her and wish her all the luck in her future job seeking.

When the going gets tough - thank you.

I never settled for less than I aim for and neither will my daughter.

I believe in apprenticeships to a point - trade ones are possibly good for people who want to learn a trade.

Admin apprenticeship ???? How long does it take someone to learn some basic admin? And why should that person be paid peanuts for doing a JOB?

In all honesty - slave labour, starvation wages etc etc and I stand by this.

And to those who may claim my daughter lives off THEIR taxes (while they claim various tax credits etc themselves) - she lives off MY taxes....I pay way more than the mere 56 she gets per week and probably support quite a few people through doing so ...

GR, you had a valid point but you don't half cloud the issue by getting shirty with people. You catch more flies with honey as they say!

I'd definitely stop using the expression 'slave labour' about low wages if I were you. No, its not fair, but its inappropriate to call it slavery, especially when there is real slavery still going on in the world.

@Treevo - you getting your time frames wrong (again) , perhaps you should pay attention to dates on posts you are so clearly watching?

My cats AND my dogs are very well fed, thank you - check the price of Orijen for a 40kg dog and 6 cats. NO worries here.

I live in a council flat, sure - and so what? So do a lot of other people, some of them do not work at all. I do NOT get any HB at all FYI.

You are trying to turn this thread into idiotic bashing - what for?

What has this got to do with my pets?My ex lodger?

Person One - Thanks but IMHO anything paying less than £10.00 per hour, in London is inappropriate.

And I am sorry, I do not sugar coat things/issues...especially when being "attacked"...

The word 'slave' has an actual meaning though, you can't make your own up to suit!

I don't agree with exploitative employment practices (although thankfully it looks like this was a misunderstanding) but unless people are actually forced to work for zero money, none at all, it isn't slave labour.

Thanks for that - perhaps I will use this expression from now on.
