What external hard drive to buy
Comments

right click on c in explorer/my computer, properties or use the utilities in post 3
ram is completely different, and unconnected to your problem
to buy more internal, you'd just buy another disk, and attach it internally, and then either keep 2 inside, or transfer the os to the new drive
Thanks for that.
How much more disc space should I buy? What sizes do they come in and how much money is it likely to cost? Is it the kind of thing Crucial sell as I bought the ram from crucial. Thanks.0 -

Find out what size your current primary HD is, and get one of that size or larger. That way, you can back up all your data from the primary to the secondary with room to spare.
Look on Amazon, eBay, Maplin or other computer suppliers for a drive of this size to price it.
Makes to look for - Seagate, Samsung, Western Digital, Hitachi, etc.
Before you do this you could download and run WinDirStat. This will tell you what's hogging the space on your current drive. You may find there's stuff there you've forgotten about, which could be deleted.
There's guides all over the internet, especially on YouTube, which show you the mechanics of installing a secondary drive - google your make/model with 'installing drive' or similar to find them.
Come to think of it, I think OH's PC is a Dimesion 521/531, and I've installed a secondary on that, so if you come unstuck, ask away.0 -
you need to find out what you've got first, and where the space has been used up, see post 3
photos are tiny compared to the average hard disk!!

jumping the gun somewhat going down the get a new internal drive road.

Why would you not recommended amazon? They're one of the best companies to deal with in the world. Excellent customer service and competitive pricing
Because not everything on Amazon is sold by Amazon. And not everything that is sold in Amazon Marketplace is what it seems. I wouldn't go near them for memory cards as a lot of the good ones on there are not genuine. Take a look on this forum for people complaining about the marketplace.you need to find out what you've got first, and where the space has been used up, see post 3
photos are tiny compared to the average hard disk... and 13!
...and 2
...but now looking back on it, it's more likely that his iPhone is full of junk and the warning message is because you need 3gb free on it to update to ios7. He needs to transfer photos and videos off it, clear out his emails, texts and voicemails, making sure he deletes the trash in each one too, then see what space is free on it.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

So have you ran out of space on your iPhone or your computer? He who laughs last, thinks slowest0

Thanks everyone. Will work thru post 2,3,13 but haven't had chance yet. My iPhone says capacity is 13.5 gb. Available is 3.4g. I plugged it into the pc to update to ios7 as my phone wasn't charged up. I can't recall the exact error message on the pc sorry but it was something about disc space so I deleted a few printers softwares where I've no longer got the printer and it released enough space. So I will do the posts that sort out my space before I buy more. I will buy an external hard drive tho as a back up for all photos and will print regularly a batch as someone else suggested earlier. Thnx.0

It's very easy to see if it's 'from Amazon' or not. If it is then you're guaranteed to get what you ordered. If not then it's easy to look at reviews of the company, even if there are any problems Amazon will back you 100%.
Lots of legitimate companies operate on there, I've purchased things from 7dayshop through there.
I think it's crazy to just dismiss them.He who laughs last, thinks slowest0 -
if you open a google account you can store them there. send them to an email address..then transfer to a photo bucket...
btw what happens if you external drive brakes down?“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
