    Mine's run by Plymouth but at the local college, so it's ideal. It's three days a week and parent friendly hours. It's more aimed at people returning to education than those my age really, but I'm not cut out for university life.

    Hi there,
    http://www.lighterlife.com/index.cgi?wflid=0&
    is where you'll find out abut the diet! Its qute hardcore as you cant eat ANYTHING. Nada. Ziltch! I havent eaten solid food since 21st March and probably wont until July/August! Haing said that my life is transformed and for the frst time in as long as I can recall I have a waist!!
    Will have a look at the chalenge Lynz - had a brief look and wonder if I'm a bit behind to start? Also want to get a balance and learn from last time. My terramundi is almost full but that is my savings for my new wardrobe (size 12 if you dont mind!!). The probem with loosing weight so quicly is that your clothes dont last!! Seriously, it does become a problem! I've do idea what size I am now - somewhere between a 14 & 18!!
    Well done on the course Gemmzi! I started mine at 25 and didnt look back! A dgree, masters course and post qualifyng social work later I now recognise that I dont have to proove that I'm not thick any more and am enjoying reading crappy novels instead!!! Ok off to hoover as godchildren coming in an hour (so we can go plant sunfrlowers!) and flat is a tip!!

    OI!!!!! Less of that. By doing an HND you ARE studying a higher education qualification. Did you know that just over 10% of HE qualifications are now delivered in further education colleges?

    To get a higher education qualification you don't have to be sat in lectures from 9 to 5 each day if that kind of learning style doesn't work for you. Just because you're doing a vocationally related course, part time does not mean that you are not in higher education. An HND is a recognised HE qualification, with excellent progression routes. Trust me, this is my job.

    Make sure you get to know the Aimhigher website, it's aimed mainly at those of school age (not sure how old you are) but there's some useful stuff on student finance (alongside Martin's guide of course). (edit: Also UNIAID.....)

    Things are good. Busy but good. Work is manic, as always. Me and OH are about to move out of our rented flat back in with his folks so that we can get ourselves really on top of money things before we get married. Bit worried about losing independence but it's only for a short while :confused:

    Right now though I feel a bit jaded after a few too many shandy's so I'm off to bed with a cuppa! It's what Sunday's are for!!!!! ;)

    remember the make money from anything thread - Fishface ? :D I was saving at the time for a VW Campervan ( ended up going by the wayside that one :rolleyes: ) but anyway it was a good motivator. I really need to start making a bit of extra money - am paranoid about getting into debt again and am paranoid about using savings too ( what have you done to me Martin Lewis :rotfl: )
    Well done on the dieting - dont think I could do without food :eek:
    Good luck moving in with your parents mola, Im sure it will be worth it in the long run :o:D :rotfl:

    I meant the going and living the "student" lifestyle :) I'm not a big party animal and I don't want to squander away in debt on baked beans on toast. I'm totally down for the learning part :D

    I plan to take the HND further, even though it adds an extra year to things (I'm 19 now btw, most people my age are finishing their first years at uni so I guess I'll be two academic years behind if I go to do a degree). But I love my volunteer job and I'm getting qualified through that too (3 NVQs - 1 to Level 4, 1 to Level 4) plus the experience is amazing. It's opened the biggest learning experience for me I could have possible asked for, I just really hope it leads to paid work!
    And hopefully it'll help me choose a career, I'm not going into a degree without more of an idea in which direction I want to go.

    It'll be worth it to sort things out, well done on being sensible. And if they annoy you just politely leave the room! I thought Sundays were for actually earning decent money :rotfl: Have a nice evening Mol x

    Ahhh, excellent stuff. At the end of the day it all comes down to having common sense and a commitment to hard work. I know plenty of graduates who did the tradtional route and have neither. Not what's required in the work place if you ask me. You're certainly going the best way IMHO!

    Probably so, but after my 60 hour week (techically 35 hours eh) and another coming up, retiring to bed with a cuppa is about all I can manage!!!

    Oh flip. Hijacked fishy's thread again. Sorry hun x ;) :rolleyes:

    Happy Sunday evening everyone. I'm off to tackle the EU ironing mountain that's taking over my flat while OH is enjoying himself in the pub :rolleyes:

    Anyone seen scottish spendaholic? I havent seen her in ages, hope shes ok?

    Hello!

    More of a lurker than a poster these days I'm afraid for reasons I won't go into.

    Suffice to say that scottishspendaholic is 35 weeks pregnant, due in just over a month - so everything has changed (please ignore old signature below) - but I still lurk and post occasionally under a different name.

    Good luck fishy with the renewed enthusiasm and challenge. I've got your email address (and yours Mol!) on my birth announcement email doo-dah.

    Mol - congratulations on your engagement! When's the big day? Well done for sticking it out at work!

    Lynz - good luck with the baby making. Make sure you get a job that gives you good maternity benefits as mine only gives statutory and it sucks!

    :hello: to everyone else!

    Back to hiding!

    scottishspendaholic x
    MBNA = £4,000 / Next = £925 (approx. tbc on 19/8)
    Tesco = £2,910.11 / Smile overdraft = £500
    Bank of Scotland = £2,782.83

    I can't believe you're nearly due! Hope you're taking it a bit easier.

    Big day is tentatively booked for 22 August 2008. Am waiting on confirmation from our venue - it's been promised for over a week so getting a bit nervy now!

    Stay in touch eh hun. Hope the last month of pregnancy is ok.

    Mola x

    Now we just need Obi and Minnie!!!
