Wrinkles....

It's more about what you don't do than what you do.
No sunbathing, smoking, fizzy drinks, alcohol.
Having said that I've tried so many creams, absolute sucker for packaging and hype, slight improvement but nothing like the claims.
Think I'll throw in the towel and get some fillers.
My history is trying to force my super pale skin to tan, burn after burn for years, no tan but more lines than anyone I know the same age:(0 -

Me too:( used to sunbathe all day and I am a smoker not much I can do now unless I have a face lift,I just avoid mirrors and try not to worry about it There are a lot worse things to have wrong.0 -
Growing old is an opportunity denied to many so try and make the best of it
I am sure lots of people find you beautiful that don't have the courage to tell you, wrinkles and all! Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
I've used Loreal Revitalift for about 15 years. I'm 39 and don't have any deep lines. I'm a bit of a sunbather as well, so it's quite surprising I don't have loads of wrinkles. I think it's important to use decent creams as early as possible.
My hands however are quite 'old'. I had eczema on the backs of my hands for several months and the steroid cream along with dryness etc has done terrible damage there.

38 and no hideously deep lines here except a crease alongside one of my eyebrows. My dad's got it in exactly the same place - I think we must wrinkle our foreheads the same way! On the other side of the family, my mum has very good skin, and I'm a bit tubby, so I think all of that has helped!
Other than that, I find that drinking lots of water helps my skin look healthier which makes things look better. I use Dermological moisturiser which is more expensive than the "standard" stuff but only a little more than the higher priced supermarket stuff / Boots products and I can really see a (bad) difference when I switch from that to something cheaper.0 -
Genetics do play a huge part in it. But the cream certainly helps me and I can't see any negatives about giving Mother Nature a helping hand!0

Wow, I seem to have found a thread where all the women who post look ten years younger than the actually are. Maybe I will shave off the moustache and the beard and see what all these creams do for me. Having said that, ten years younger will still be 52 (53 next week) so maybe more serious attention is needed

Having said that, they do say men get more attractive as they get older (think Patrick Stewart, Sean Connery) so I guess I may just be lucky. Wrinkles on women are character lines on men it seems.0 -

Many people on the internet claim to look younger than they are. Who is likely to admit to looking like a wrinkled old crone?

I look loads younger too

Is anyone else a sucker for the packaging/hype? I try very hard to use one cream at a time, but always seem to have at least three. There's an Olay one which has a beautiful swirly thing up the middle, like a light foundation/moisturiser in it. I'm SO tempted!! Do I actually need it? Nope!
It's like a little treat, isn't it. Don't want to go out and spend it on clothes, jewellery or whatever, but a fiver here, a tenner there, it's like you can get it without feeling too guilty! I'm really not very MSE!

Ive tried all sorts over the years. Boots P&P and the Aldi equivalent was good for a time but it gave me blocked pores. Most moisturisers give me open pores. Regular exfoliation has made the most difference to my face but as a result I do have patches of hyper pigmentation which means I need foundation to look half decent. Physical sunscreens gives me both blocked and open pores. Foundation sits well on my skin but the only foundation that suits me is Estee Lauder Double Wear but at almost £30 a bottle that wouldn't last me that long if I wore it every day, I tend to use it only when I go out.
Ive tried that snake stuff too and I couldn't see any difference.
Facial excercises make the most difference for me.....That's when I think about it. I tend to do them when I am in the bath but i'm trying to have more showers so my usual routine has flown out the window.
I'm getting good results with a powder illuminator at the moment over my foundation. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
