Wrinkles....

So... I'm JUST on the right side of 40 and in a daylight mirror the other day have noticed a few deep wrinkles on the top lip and above my left eye....I don't smoke and don't suntan and always wear moisturiser....

So, spill it, what cream do you swear by to reverse/stop wrinkles. Not considering cosmetic surgery/needles etc.., just interested in what you swear by works for you. Not looking to 'cover' it up either, but more if there are creams that reverse it or (try to!) stop it happening.

I know this is not a big deal, it's lighthearted question but genuinely interested in your answers.

Just interested in tried and tested and if it doesn't break the bank even better!

  • I think the only one ever scientifically proven to reverse/halt aging is
Boots Protect and Perfect products. However, Boots also do a more price friendly Time Delay range and if you look on the ingredients on them you'll see that they are exactly the same as the more expensive Protect and Perfect products.

Hope that helps. If not, I recommend Botox;)

Didn't the Aldi serum perform as well as Boots Protect & Perfect in a trial... or did I totally dream that?!

    No you didn't dream that.

I find Aldi's range excellent if it suits your skin. They do Day and Night cream plus the serum. Just recently they've introduced a sort of serum that comes in a syringe so I'm giving that a try too. I'd advise OP to try Aldi. If it doesn't suit your face, you can always use it up as hand/body lotion.

P.S. I find their body lotion excellent too.

I tried the Aldi Lacura serum and it smells very unpleasant! Sorry, I know that's probably not relevant to the performance of the product, but it put me off using it.

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair is brilliant IMHO.

Also, have you tried the oil cleansing medthod?

That is what put me off also. I thought it smelled dreadful on me.

I have moved to the Ponds range now. It is a lot different from the old cold cream my mum used to use and is doing a great job on my 54 yrs old skin. People actually comment how few wrinkles I have but I think that is down to genetics rather than cream

As mudgekin says - I think it's down to genetics too. Wonder how much difference creams actually do make...!

I use Simple or Olay generally. Also use eye creams as started to notice some little lines under my eyes when I smile/squint (although actually, I don't mind those!).

Which moisturiser do you currently use? I've used Oil of Olay total effects for years which I find suits me fine. The main thing to look for is a moisturiser that has an SPF. Even if you don't sunbathe (I don't either, I just freckle!) you can get sun damage from just being out and about. I've tried Boots protect and perfect but it didn't suit me. Luckily, with Xmas approaching Boots may have packs of travel size versions you could try.

Well I swear by my moustache, it hides everything on my top lip.

I did once suggest to my wife that I should try to patent the use of polyfilla to "reduce wrinkles".

My answer? Forget magic creams, smile as often as you can, and no-one will notice wrinkles at all. If you are really worried there is always photoshop :)

    Don't worry, be happy.

I found that drinking more water really helped my skin, especially as I gave up fizzy pop and caffeine at the same time. No cream has ever made a difference, apart from one that have me spots.
