I was chuffed to bits to get a 'household' item off my OH for Christmas. He bought me Global kitchen knives that cost a few hundred pounds and not something I would get myself. He knew how much I wanted them and they will last our life times so for me, a fab pressie.0

I either write a list or I tell my eldest daughter what I really really want, she then states to my husband "I was out shopping with mum and she really liked xxxx", he then says oh buy it for me! I end up very happy and he feels chuffed (and my daughter and I never let on)No Matter what you do there will be critics.0
