Should have read my answer properly - it was in there several posts backWhat if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Sarah,
are you saying you ran a red light AND received a seperate NIP for speeding?
Or did you run a red light and they say you were photographed doing 32 through the light?
I would have thought that each offence on it's own would warrant 3 points plus fine. One offence your license would be ok, but you would have to really, really drive properly/correctly in future(might be a sensible move anyway). Two offences then you can probably kiss your license goodbye and have to resit.0 -
Can someone give me some advice
I recently thought i could make a late amber light but stupidly i didnt and ran a red light. The camera ontop of the traffic light flashed me twice. This week i recieved a letter saying i was doing 32mph in a 30mph zone. Do i now face losing my license as i only passed my test 6 months ago? And does anyone know if the 10% + 2mph guideline still exists.
It may be the speed was logged by a "red light/speed on green" camera. You may be alleged to have run the red light but the speed is also shown just for information only.
The penalty for either offence is likely to be just 3 points and you're unlikely to be prosecuted for both at the same time.
When you return the S172 notice confirming you're the driver, you will normally be offered a speed awareness course if indeed it is speeding with which you're being charged.
In the Met and GMP areas you may also be offered a Traffic Signal Awareness Course if you are being prosecuted for the traffic light infringement.

As far as I'm aware it does exist and think it was ACPO guideline
I think if it was me I would be contesting it and asking for calibration report...most cameras seem to be set to flash at 34 mph to avoid the 10% guideline.
Theres websites out there that will help you ..can't remember the name of one ..anyone ??
Interesting coincidence in an article today about the new laws for next year though
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-129780/New-speeding-laws-mean-ban-just-32mph.html
Why?
A red light camera is not type approved for speeding and therefore can't be used for that offence.
You'll find that the NIP is for the red light matter.0 -

I wasn't aware of that ......I was going off the OP saying she is being prosecuted for 32 in a 30 so assumed it was a speed cameraCan someone give me some advice

so people with the same problems should make no end of new threads?
Yes, unless the thread is currently active, stickied or is marked as a megathread*.
Otherwise people will have to wade through years of old posts before they get to your question, and many will not bother to finish and/or decide that the question has already been adequately answered so it is not worth their input.
*I don't think the MSE forums actually do megathreads, so probably not relevant here, but important to note for other forums where you will get slated for starting a new thread when there is a sticky and/or megathread.0 -

true but in this case it was still page one so not a disaster. I felt the reapplication of the thread revival image was both harsh and unhelpful is all.
5tWhat if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -
Umm, this latest bump happened after the thread had been dead for 7 months, just that someone got a second reply in before the thread revival image was posted.
The image was unhelpful maybe, but thread necromancy is still something that should be discouraged, so I don't object to the image.
It's also worth nothing that on some forum systems, such as VBulletin (not sure which system MSE use) someone viewing a large thread puts a much greater load on the database than someone viewing a small thread0
