Naked Delivery from Tesco!

...what exactly do they do with your bags if you give them back?
I can't see them being used for future deliveries (especially now they're micro-thin), so that leaves two options, surely...1) They chuck them in the bin or 2) They recycle them. Even if they recycle them, there's going to be loads of energy wasted in the process, so I reckon this new idea's pretty good.0 -
I thought you got 1 green point for every bag you give back to the driver?
Surely that far exceeds 4 points for all the hassle of boxes. Isn't that the greenest way too?0 -
Bagless delivery has worked well for me over the last few weeks, however last year Tescos trialled using small black crates - half the size of their green ones - that you kept each week and returned when your next delivery arrived, they were much better and easier to store and better for the palnet than countless carrier bags!!0

I shop with Tesco on a monthly basis - basics and heavy stuff mostly so a lot of the stuff like tomatoes is in bulk packs anyway as are loo rolls and cat litter but its the bits and pieces that would be the problem. The kitchen is rather a distance from the front door and our blind cat likes to "help" ie get under your feet when anyone is delivering or you are carrying things. I wouldn't dare ask the delivery driver to take it though in case she tripped him up and he sued me. Its bad enough when I am just taking the carrier bags through.
I'm not sure I'd want to store the containers for next time - having 10 or so around for a month would be a bit much - the recycling box lives outside because there isn't room in the house a big tower of tesco boxes would really be difficult to store.
It would be nice if we could somehow do half and half? Like big stuff not in bags and little stuff grouped together in for instance recycled cardboard trays which were reusable and could be broken down and stored until the next delivery when they would be returned to the driver. They must have enough cardboard trays as everything comes in them in the cages from the warehouses:rotfl:!0 -

my son is a dot com driver and i can asure you that they do NOT get extra time to delivery items that are not in bags.also he told me that last week when this started, that when it was raining for a few days that a lot of peoples shopping got drenched, especially cereal boxed and soap powder boxed and other cardboard packaging,so just be aware that this could happen0 -
well tonight i just had my first naked delivery.
the driver was lovely - and no he wasn't naked too
normally they leave the stuff in my front hall, all 30+ bags of it.
this time i asked him to carry it all the way through our house into the kitchen. i unpacked 3 crates, whilst he brought in the other two. no problems with the time it took me to unload the crates onto the kitchen counters.
however, i am slightly miffed that for all his (and my) effort, i only got 4 green points!
normally, the same shopping would come in 30 bags if they had packed it. Ok - if i'd gone to the shop I would have used less (can manage more than one item per bag - but it would have been more than 4!
ok the extra 1000 code somewhat made up for it, but i'm not really sure i'd bother with the effort it took the driver next time.0 -
Blimey, I've just had my shopping delivered without bags and I won't be doing it again!
They just bring all your food in the large plastic boxes, I was rushing to empty them so the driver could leave.
The food was all over the place.
At least with your bags you can put your food away at leisure.
Same here, I have gone back to bags. Tesco, if you're reading this; The bagless idea is an ABSOLUTE DISASTER!! The only way I could see it working is if they left the boxes with you and you just gave them the empties on the next delivery.
Amazing to think they didn't consider this first as Tesco are usually on the ball with new ideas.0 -
