comps being posted where u have to spend hundreds? i think the limit should be raised though
Most comps are 18+, kids comps require parental consent. So as long as an adult is making their own desicions regarding any payment of any sorts to enter, why not scrap it altogether?
Just because there's a comp available if you buy a car (for example) doesn't mean I'm going to go and buy one tomorrow! Thanks to all posters :A0 -
I don't think the limit for pay to enter competitions should be raised.
However purchase necessary comps should not be lumped in with "pay to enter" ones and stopped at the same limit.
Just glanced at the Freebies (low spend) section and some involve buying magazines at £2.60, £3.60, £3.99, paying £2.50, £4.90, £4.99 P&P etc all to get the "freebie" (highest was buying wine at £7 plus a stamp to submit the claim). I don't know if there is a set limit on that board but don't see why the comps section should have a limit any lower than the ones posted on it.

Ohhh just having a weekend wander around and came across the thread so thought I'd add my two penneth!
I have not and can't forsee a real event that would entice me to pay to enter a competition. (Hmm, let me temper that with: I have done a few postal comps in the past but I decided based on the value of the prize against the cost of the stamp.)
I would find knowing about more 'purchase necessary' ones useful though. If the item to be bought is something I tend to buy anyway but would pick a usual brand for, I wouldn't mind knowing about the comp so I could decide whether to switch brands in order to enter.
The limit of £1.53 (from 2011 ish) is quite low nowadays, my shopping bill has gone up by about 20% in a year! I wouldn't mind it going up to £5 or even £10 maximim. As some of you have already said, we are adults and could decide if we wanted to switch brand or even treat the family with an item we buy as a one off.
At the end of the day, we use the forum in accordance with the rules Martin and his staff have given us, so if CP is going to try to open a discussion on the matter, then great.Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Maybe we should have a 'spend required' competition thread. One that was updated.
I mean, sometimes you buy a washing machine (because you need one) and you are entered into winning a competition of washing liquid.
