I have no TV and got quite stroppy with their demands to ring them on a premium number to confirm that I don't have one. They seem to have taken the hint and last time gave an 0300 number for contact which does not allow revenue sharing. On that basis, I have been prepared to call them, which seems to have made them go away for the time being.
You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'

Someone please tell me Pippa Doubtfire is married :D
In charge of Revenue Management at the BBC is Mrs Doubtfire. Pipa Doubtfire, who last week sturdily defended the licence fee, confirms both that she is married and that "it is actually my name - my husband changed his to Doubtfire when we married, allowing me to go from Miss to Mrs." So try not to think of Robin Williams putting on a bra next time you pay the fee.

Do not reply to them, it makes no difference they will still come if they want to. The simple way to deal with them is "No Comment" then close the door. Do not let them in, they often change the paperwork after getting you to sign the 178 form, Signing this form will guarantee you a court visit wether you watch live TV or not. Please warn your girlfriend the courts fine more female than men due to them signing the 178 form as they are easier to threaten or pressurize into doing so
  • Write a letter to them withdrawing "implied right of accesss" to your house. Then if they do try anything funny you can take them for tresspassing :).

    Worked for me.

Do you have a source for this - it's quite a damning statement.

It is true that more women than men are prosecuted for this offence, which makes it unique in our legal system.

Or could it just be that more women are at home during the day when the inspectors call?
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

That's what the BBC say, but I very much doubt that the numbers are significant these days.

A typical offence has male offenders outnumbering female by about 10 to 1. LF evasion is more like 55% female, 45% male.

I think that TVL staff are targeting women (from the names on their computers), stand a better chance of not being ignored by them when they call, as well as having an easier job of extracting a confession from them on the doorstep.

Correction, the best way to deal with them, is to not open the door.

The second best way to deal with them is, if you do open the door, shut it again, without saying anything.

    I don't pay the fee.

Then feel free to think about Robin Williams in a bra as much as you want.

Nobody was stepping on your basic human rights to think about any middle aged male comedians in any form of womens clothing, quite strange you felt that strongly about it.
