Also that kind of driving would not go down well on your driving test.

I had a minor fault on my first driving test for doing 50 in a 60, clear straight road.

Just as bad as the yellow box idiots are the ones who block people from getting onto a roundabout because they are in a traffic queue.
Vans and lorries are the worse culprits at a nearby roundabout, heaven forbid someone might get in front of you if you leave a gap and never mind the poor souls who want to get on and go a different way.

This is my actually number one pet hate in the whole world.

Not so much approaching roundabouts, but near where I live there is a side street with a set of lights at the end, where It joins a main road with a yellow box in it.

During rush hour, everyone insists on driving in to the box even though they're not going anywhere, and then when the lights change, only one car from the side street manages to get through.

When I see the lights changing to red on the main road in preparation for the side streets lights turning green and then I see someone driving in to the yellow box it's like a red mist descends over me! I've actually been close to getting out of my car and running over to bang on their windows!

    And, breathe.............

...I have been using a dashcam for months now and wouldn't drive anywhere without it.

These are becoming more popular. But looking at a few on the likes of YouTube, it is sometimes the drivers with the camera themselves that put others in danger either from impatience, arrogance, ignorance, or simply not understanding the laws of physics....

    I'm a cyclist....

    Nobody is perfect (only kidding).

In fact, I do feel sorry for cyclists as they do get a raw deal from some drivers. How hard is it really for a car to give you a bit of room?

Mind you, there are some seriously bad cyclists out there...

...and we need more of the traffic laws to be enforced.

Totally agree with this one - especially where Mobile Phones are involved. The Government should make the fine £1000 minimum - that would stop a few people.

It really annoys me, especially when Bluetooth headsets are so cheap.

Same with uninsured drivers - make the fine 2 -3 times as much as it would cost to get insurance in the first place and not just £100 and a slap on the wrist.

(PS: I might have exaggerated in my rant above)

speed limits are NOT an indication of speed you SHOULD travel.. but a MAXIMUM that you CAN..

While a maximum they you should be going near the max if conditions allow.

As many have stated they would get points on there driving test if they did not going fast enough.

Yep! It's bad attitude that causes it usually.

It's a speed LIMIT, not speed REQUIREMENT. You can go less than 60mph if you like, but I agree 40 is pushing it. I always drive for maximum mpg, don't care what the limit is.

    .

While you do not care. It just makes you a bad driver and a bad attitude to other drivers on the road.

Do you go through a urban area past a school at 45mph to conserve your fuel?

No, i don't think any speed limit has to ever be exceeded. I would go the max mpg for the limit. So if it's a 40 zone and i get max mpg at 30 in 4th gear, that's what i do.

and how is it unsafe for them to only do 40 ?
its not unsafe, its only more convenient for the driver behind so they can go faster.

if both cars end up doing 40 down the road, then surely thats safer all round ?

its certainly not less safe to go slower

Actually it can be, because more people will try to overtake. And overtaking is far more dangerous.

    That's their problem.

I bought it after seeing a bunch of videos about insurance scams (crash for cash type things), especially on women with babies in the car and given my wife drives a lot with our LO in the car I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I do agree that many of the videos are from drivers that are not so great themselves but mine is more for protection of myself and wife rather than to capture bad driving.

I don't think we can imply causality from owning a dashcam to being a bad driver.

Mine is small and tidy and hides behind the rear-view mirror, cost me £50 from ebay and the best thing I have ever bought for the car.
    Thinking critically since 1996....

So your mpg is more important than driving with consideration for other road users?
