So because BG say you should pay £68 a month that all you will pay even when it does not cover your actual usage
Maybe its time BG fitted prepaid meter and be done with it then you pay a amount of the debt you owe plus energy you can use rarely is £68 going to cover both fuels unless your frugalI'm no thief! I've been paying 68 a month as this is what THEY QUOTED i should pay!0 -
Get a grip - it wasn't a fixed price quote for heavens sake. By your logic you would expect to fill the tank in your car to the 50% level for (say) £30 and then a while later when that had all gone fill it all the way up to the brim for another £30.Kray!
If I have a window cleaner to do my windows and they quote 50 but after they have done it they suddenly charge 200 that i think is unfair.:mad:

i terrifies me how people receive estimate after estimate, and then blame the utlity companies.
fyi, the regs have changes and they only need to check your meter every 5 years.
i'd make sure you give them a ring, play nice and arrange a more realistic DD. the nicer you are to the agent, the more they'll try to do for you.0 -
I don't know why everyone is saying im 100% at fault here, i smell a conspiracy! I have two kids, looking for work and a hubbie that is working 7+ days a week at the moment. I took the responsibility for all the bills in the house and finance due to personal reasons
This is turning into a full time job chatting to British gas every day, first offered 40 off and to pay back over 2 years and now offered 140 off and to pay back over 3 years. Its still too much and they are not very helpful on the phone.

Because you are at fault.
Well done on your husbands work ethic, however I somewhat doubt he is working more than 7 days a week.
You have more off your bill than you should IMO. You were incapable of taking care of your bills.
Either that, or this entire thread is a wind up, and you've had everyone hook line and sinker :T0 -
Pay the bill - you owe the money for the service you have used. Read your meter regularly in future!!0

The point is I cant afford to pay it, recently got the boot!Pay the bill - you owe the money for the service you have used. Read your meter regularly in future!!
We can barely afford the new price they are quoting.
Im future I will try to read it, but for now being threatened with being cut off or pay a sum i cant afford looks like they will cut me off. I have written to my MP about it.
I think they would be better off just having a fiver a month to pay it off than nothing, I have suggested this and they are still not happy to accept!0
