Parking Charge Notice UPDATE #47
RoxRoxBling
I know the previous advice used to be that its ok to ignore parking notices from private car parks.
After googleing I have just realised that there are new laws that have made ignoring these parking charges difficult.
I am tempted to ignore. Is it more stress than its worth if I ignore?

Who issued the ticket?Proud to be a member of the Anti Enforcement Hobbyist Gang.:D:T0 -
And are you in England or Wales ?
Is this ticket on the car or by post?
Are you over 18?
How long ago did you receive the notice to keeper ?
ThanksWhen posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

UKPC. What do I say to the popla?
Its a free car park and I wasn't within the marked bays. (As half of the other drivers aren't)
Could I be taken to court for it? The parking people haven't exactly lost out on any money.Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140 -

You're jumping ahead a bit here OP.
Have a look at this link that provides a basic 'walk through' of the process. Hope it helps.

Ok so if I'm in the wrong, should I just pay?
Seems awfully a lot for a free car park (and I can't afford to spare any money)
If I appeal. I'm worried that they may not agree with my appeal.
I have read on mse that "You could also ignore it and wait to see if you get court papers in the post demanding payment - often they don't follow through."
Does UKPC take you to court?
Also I've read on the forum, (idk if serious or a joke) that if I say the driver will pay one pound a month directly into the private car park company's bank, they may never give the company's bank details. But at least you've offered to pay?
Sorry for the confusing post. I'm confused.Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140 -
How do I know who owns the car park, if anyone? Its like a retail car park.Save in 2013: #166: 9,122.51/[STRIKE]5,000[/STRIKE] 10,000Interest earned in 2014: £257.61 20/04/140

So it's private. That's good
You write to ukpc appealing the ticket on any grounds you like.
They will reject it and give u a code for Popla.
Forget any court stuff or ignore business just follow my straightforward advice.
Read https://www.parkingcowboys.co.uk/popla on how to win at popla. You don't bother with anything tht happened on the day.
You will eventually win and won't need to pay.
So please put paying to the back of your mind.Proud to be a member of the Anti Enforcement Hobbyist Gang.:D:T0 -
UKPC are just a moneymaking bunch of scammers, why would you even consider paying these idiots for parking over one of their white lines?
I got one of their nonsensical charges for parking slightly over the line last year, I just ignored all their threats and ridiculous scam debt recovery letters after advice from here.
The position has changed slightly now and you should make an appeal to them stating something like you had to park out of bay as you could not fit in or the signs were not clear.
When they reject that use the POPLA code for a slam dunk winning appeal with help from here.
UKPC are just pure conning lowlife scumbags full stop!0 -
So I first write to UKPC and then POPLA?
If its a free car park. Can I say that the PCN is not the pre-estimate of the losses?
