Hello! Could I please be added?

    MarleneB (30) TTC #1 since 09/13

Have bought some Opks so will start properly charting my fertile days. I enjoy reading the tips on here :)

Good luck and baby dust to all! X
  • A new thread, how confusing! Thanks for bringing us back up to speed Mrs T_M.

PommeVerte Thanks, I tried to make an appointment for next week but they can't fit me in so I guess I'll wait till the next cycle and insist on an appointment on the right day. That seems ages away!

Carrot I think I would be honest in your position. I had my first gp consultation this week and one of the questions she asked was if I had ever been pregnant (I've not). My partner was there and I did find myself thinking if I'd had a termination in my past it would be an awkward time for him to find out about it. Anyway, surely the fact that you had a past pregnancy does have implications medically? People have terminations for all sorts of reasons and I'm sure they won't judge you for it.

In the 2ww now:o. I'm hopeful this month because my partner has been really good about doing his bit so to speak!

Hello there - I'm planning to use OPKs this month to check to see if I'm ovulating and, if so, when. Stupid question probably, but when should I start testing? Previously my cycle was 28 days, but last month it was 30 days and the month before it was 32. At the moment I have 10 OPKs, I could buy more but was hoping to avoid if possible :money:

My initial thought was to test from day 10 onwards, until I get a positive result. What do you all think/do?

Isn't there an advice bit/table in with your opks? Thee was with all the ones I got... In theory though, you could ov up to 17 days before af shows (that would be 0dpo, af cd1 would be the day after 16dpo, in this case) so working backwards the earliest you'd ov on a 28 day cycle would be...(maths I can't do this late at night :p) cd11?? And opk's pick it up something like 12-72 hrs pre-ov. So work backwards again. Cd10 sounds about right to me though. ;)

Carrot: a) definitely tell them the whole truth, it could've affected your fertility and they'll know what specifics to look for in case it has b) having been through the FS process, I'm 99% certain that telling them wouldn't change what help you'd be offered. Good luck with your appointment.

    Fannyanna, how are you doing??

    Good luck ladies

  • Hello All,

My husband and I are hoping to try for a baby next month - I've stopped taking the pill this month but am aware it can take a while to get into a normal routine again.

Has anyone got any advice? Obviously, it seems a bit strange to be wanting to get pregnant after 15 years of trying to avoid it! I'm hoping we won't have to get too scientific about things too soon but any advice would be helpful.

    Thanks,
    Alipops x

    Welcome Alipops.

Start taking folic acid now, if you haven't already. If you don't want to get into a scientific approach just yet (and I don't blame you) and you're not married to a sex panda, then just BD every 2-3 days which should make sure the sperm are around when your egg drops. Get yourself an app for tracking your period and symptoms because it will become quite useful for understanding how your reproductive system works and try to forget everything you learned in biology class - a 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14 isn't all that common. And try not to worry. Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky people who gets there first go, but bear in mind it's perfectly normal for it to take a year.

Finally, and importantly keep posting here. We hate it when someone comes on, posts once and then announces a BFP. No question is too dumb and there is no such thing as TMI.

Hope you're not here for too long, in the nicest possible way.
