Evil speed camera!

Nobody is saying they only exist to make money.
If they are hoping to raise awareness why are they pulled right over, hid/parked behind a wall in a dark van?
If their intent is to raise awareness why not make it clear that they are parked there, otherwise i could speed down there for the next week until i get a ticket... especially with the weekend coming up, more chance of those kids walking for 5-10 minutes crossing a motorway exit road and then down that dual carriageway.
Now that hiding bit does sound a bit off.
Much as I don't like this kind of 'policing' at least in Aberdeenshire they are very visible and even tell you in the local paper and their web-site where they will be this week and next.
You have to be pretty unaware to be caught out up north.0 -

That does sort of defeat the object though doesn't it?
People will just obey the speed limits when they know the vans are there.0 -
They don't tell you which day of the week or the exact times though.
So you have to be aware and vigilant and keep an eye out for them.
It certainly slows folks down where the cameras could be that week.
Check you local 'safety camera partnership' website. They should all post this info.
And the calibration certificates for all their cameras and the serial numbers of them so you can check the photos that they took.
All the fixed cameras up north are painted yellow and black stripes to draw attention to them too.
Not sure if all of them are in the south - but I reckon it's a good idea - if we are going to have cameras at all.0 -

I think that is pretty much the same all over the UK. But personally I think it would be better if they just left people guessing, and then they would be less likely to speed.0 -
Try to bend your mind around the differing concepts of deterrence and detection. Deterrence is not always effective and on occasion detection has to be used, ultimately, as a means of deterrence itself. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -
Just a rhetorical question?
Ok we know you where speeding and we know ( think ) that you have got a ticket?
Do you think it would be morally right to try and get off with it?Happiness, Health and Wealth in that order please!:A0 -
Sorry i didnt see your reply until now...
If they were not waiting on the doorstep of the camera in black van hidden behind a wall then i would have no arguments what so ever.
The fact that they were waiting within seconds of the camera to me is very snidey. So in that sense i have no qualms about trying to get out of it and would sleep very well knowing i had got out of it.
Had it been an area where the speed limit had been place for say quarter of a mile then i wouldnt even be debating it.
Its not the fact they are doing it which is annoying me, its the way they have gone about it.
Anyway, it was on the 3rd of October and we are now on the 18th so i have "got off with it" going off what someone said about the 14 day rule.
Even though there is no fine, i still think its pretty poor by the council and any camera that is within that distance of a speed limit change (especially where there are no houses/buildings within the immediate area) is there for one reason only - to generate some revenue.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
