Ok i will give them a ring tommorow and tell them. I wouldnt want to get into trouble for anything.

And hopefully you will find it doesn't affect your income. But you should also upgrade your eBay account and have a clear returns policy, address etc.

The other thing is, this wasn't a phone you had owned and used to begin with so you wouldn't necessarily know how the home button functioned for any length of time as I assume you'd only test it briefly.

Home button faults are quite often a side effect of a dropped phone and almost always get worse to the point where they need to be repaired. Personally I wouldn't have bought any handset that is described as having even the most minor issue with it.

You need to tell your seller to return the phone, tracked, and then refund them when you receive it back.

Hi. It does say 'no returns accepted' in the info part of the listing.

Sorry a few final questions. Its clear this lady is a scammer as she has come back with a ridiculous partial refund offer of £40 which means she would have paid 80 for an excellent phone with free postage with a vey minor fault. That is definately not happening. Wish i just dold it to one of the ppl who messaged me with offers now!!

Anyway ive told her to send it back recorded and insured. And i wont be paying for return postage. I was wondering if i could claim back the £9 i paid in postage? I did offer free postage, but still have the postage reciept. Could i claim this back? How would i go about doing this? Also my paypal balance is at 0 as i have withdrawn the money so how do i refund her? Do i put the money back into paypal???

    This is a nightmare!!

It usually is when somebody that doesn't have a clue how eBay works starts selling high risk items on eBay!!!

No, you can't claim the postage back. Yes, PayPal will refund as soon as the phone shows as being returned on tracked postage from the buyer. PayPal will automatically refund and chase you for the money.

Ok, so you refund by firstly adding funds to Paypal or, if you have a bank account or card linked, they will do it when you hit the refund tab. Personally I would add funds ASAP.

I am not sure who you want to claim the postage back from? It's a no go. But can I just ask you to think how she may feel? The buyer. What if you were her?

You are aggrieved at losing postage but so will she be losing postage......how might you feel having bought the phone and standing to lose £10 or so to return it.

This isn't a nightmare, yes it's a bit messy, but you can put it all right and still get your phone back, have glowing feedback and have a clear conscience, if you want to!

It also says the home button isn't that problematic but it obviously is.

£40 is about the right price to get it fixed. How is it clear she's a scammer? She's not the one who sold on a phone with a fault. A fault which you can't say with any certainty is minor or not. I suspect whoever you sold this to would have returned it.

Anyway ive told her to send it back recorded and insured. And i wont be paying for return postage. I was wondering if i could claim back the £9 i paid in postage? No, you can't claim back your postage. You need to refund her in full on return of the phone and next time test what you sell for a decent period of time.

Unless they'll agree to a lesser refund, yes. Try offering £20.

No, ebay will not force you to pay return postage. By law a business should.

You do have to refund all original costs upon return of the item and you can not claim any postage back from anyone.

If it's not in your Paypal account ebay will take it from a card if one is linked to your account. You can transfer the money back to Paypal so that you do have the money in your account.

The returns postage is up to you.

Legally (as you are a business) and morally, then yes you should. But it cannot be enforced on eBay.

However the buyer still has the feedback card, which isn't just about feedback but your DSR stars.
