Update: I have now received correspondence from Northampton County Court asking me to complete a form N180 so that the claim can be moved to the small claims track (Small Claims Mediation Service). Does anyone know what the implications of this are? Is it something I should do or should I keep it at court level? As far as I'm concerned there's nothing to mediate.

Same advice as here, same as you:

Not sure why so many posters thought this was 'over', seeing as the forum stickies tell you what happens next. This N180 form was to be expected and is already covered in the links in the 'NEWBIES' sticky FAQs thread under 'small claims' where (in one of the links I provide) Bargepole explains what happens when and what to do. It goes to the small claims track and mediation is up to you.

As I said to one of those other posters, put a covering letter with the N180 (can't type it all again!).

  • Excellent news! Just received a letter from Gladstones Solicitors to say that a Notice of Discontinuance has been filed at the court and the matter is now concluded. Game over!
Thanks to all who helped me with this, especially Kirkbyinfurnesslad and Coupon-mad. Lessons for others - stand up to the bullies, do your research, take heed of the advice and don't lose your nerve.

    Well done!

Given that Gladstones ("specialising in defending the motorist") is now the solicitors of choice for bottom-feeding scum I wonder if Pranky might want to start collecting cases where Gladstones has been involved in a withdrawal after seeing a defence, to go alongside his CEL heap?
