So sorry to hear about your relationship difficulties Rosemary - I hope things sort themselves out. Lots of pampering and looking after yourself is needed!

Afraid I have a few INS (I blame this thread and Youtube with all the talk of Lush Christmas products ;) )

70: Christmas Eve bubble bar - already started using this, smells lovely

    71: Melting Snowman bubble bar

72: Bleach Silver shampoo - again I blame Youtube beauty bloggers for this purchase. Used once and couldn't see much of a difference yet.

73: Redken Satinwear 02 - thanks luvlycake :) my hair seems to love this, this could be a problem when it runs out :rotfl: (think it will take me a while to UU though which is great)

Out with the very old Radox Coconut Shower Gel that was on my hit list for October and IN with two free sample sachets of Nivea in-shower Body Moisturiser.
    Mortgage
    Start January 2017: $268,012
    Latest balance $266,734
    Reduction: $1,278.45
  • 55. Sunnyside bubble bar - liked this, but I have other favourite bubble bars, so probably WNBA.
    56. Dream Cream 100ml - I liked this, but it's not what I need in the winter, so I'm not sure I could be bothered to buy it again!

With reference to that Mitherings from Morningside website: it's come up on my radar before, and while I don't doubt that some of what they write has some truth, the comprehensive slagging off of literally every aspect of the company makes me feel like it's meant to be a bit more vindictive than objective... I would certainly take it with a pinch of salt.

  • Hi all, I see most of you tend to use up skincare and bath and body items which can be used up on a daily basis. Do you have any tips on using up makeup? More specifically blusher and eyeshadows? I have a couple of palettes full which I can't sell as I have depotted them myself, I wouldn't want to swap as I don't want more makeup and to throw is such a waste as they would have cost me at least £300. I've really gone off makeup and don't see myself wearing bright blue or orange eyeshadow anytime soon!

This is fairly specific, but I am part of an am-dram society at uni, and usually I can use any make up I don't wear on them for stage make up!

I will gift it to someone for Secret Santa or add it to my friend's little hamper that I always put together. Do this for my sister as well but I have a feeling that she bought me this last Christmas..

Val, :o ... It wasn't as a present, just a 'Do you want this?' but about a year ago I tried to give my DD a scarf she had apparently given me some years before. :o I hope the unloved handcream finds a good home somewhere.

Oxford Owl, Re the slagging off. Did you read all the comments from employees and ex-employees underneath the blog? Not exactly happy campers.
I've been watching an interesting short TV series on the frozen foods shop, Iceland. Their sometimes controversial boss, Malcolm Walker, is also renowned for giving his managers expensive, morale - boosting 'jollies'. The difference between the two companies is that the shop staff are also well-treated, with lots of incentives for them, and they are rated one of the best UK companies to work for.

I was under the impression that L*** was a fairly right-on company, that was sometimes badly misguided on points of ethics.
That blog reveals them to be no different overall to any other major company that pays scant heed to their workers at the coalface, whilst rewarding handsomely the bosses who made it to the top of the chain.
The difference is, they continue to parade their 'right-on-ness' to attract clientele of a particular demographic who have a generally higher level of disposable income; also to justify ridiculously inflated prices for increasingly shoddy and unsatisfactory products. (See comments under blog for more evidence on the shoddiness.)
As with any major company with multiple branches there will be individuals that work within a good atmosphere and who are happy with the status quo, but the overall picture isn't good.

    Rant over, normal waffle resumed.
A UU of a Project Pan item. Original Source Orange and Cinnamon Shower Gel (Seasonal Limited Edition). WIBA? Don't think you can, I bought this reduced, out of season, earlier this year. It was pleasant enough, but not as nice as I thought it was going to be. Avon do a lovely Cranberry and Cinnamon s.g. that I'll be using nearer Christmas for a seasonal scent.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • And, I don't for a second think that Lush is all sweetness and light - I don't really think it's much different from any other company in that respect. But I find the accusatory way the blog is written to make me think twice about whether it's actually a decent analysis or just someone with a hatred of Mark... I kind of think it's like any job really - objectively, my job is amazing for what it is (a part time holiday job in a pub) - short and incredibly flexible hours, well over minimum wage, a very accommodating boss, and lots of other good things, but if you asked me at the end of a bad shift there, I could tell you lots of god awful things about the health and safety and getting an hour's notice for shifts and not being paid on time every week and harassment from customers and other dodgy things. It's a matter of perspective, and the voice sounds too bitter for me to read it over the voices of the people I know who are happy there (I will agree, however, that BOTH sides need to be read and considered).
I guess I just don't understand the vitriol when so many other companies are f****d up just as badly in many aspects. It's very naive to believe the marketing that they're still hippies making things in the kitchen, so they need to be assessed in the same arena as other big businesses...
I do very much take your points, though, I'm not defending Lush! These people do have problems which should be addressed, but one big whinge-blog doesn't seem like a very practical way to do it.

Thanks again for the kind words, ladies :)

No further UUs from me and I doubt there will be before the end of the month, however I did cave in and place a TBS order last night - mostly for me, but some pressies. Will count as INs once they arrive :o

Suzitiger - belated birthday wishes, hope you had a fun day!

I don't always like this blog as talk of 'maggots in bath bombs'and things are just a bit cynical, but this...yeah I'm annoyed. They do tend to do stuff like this all the time, and you can EASILY get ferries to Amsterdam, I don't know why they are flying everyone. Silly SILLY! Oh in other news I'm working until 11.30 this thurs doing a stocktake :D I don't like stocktake. ahaha. Not a week of excitement at my job for me but it has its ups and downs

    Have a uu

Mitchum Smartsolid stick deo - WNBA, it is effective but the amount of product you get is small particularly when the container is so large. Still have another in the stash but have moved back to a half used Sure compressed.
