No Buying Unnecessary Toiletries October 2013

I would never chuck my eyeshadows out after 3-6 months, even using everyday they last for a lot longer than that. I use mine for years as I like to chop and change a lot.
Have spent the day in York today and managed to come home without anything challenge related, mainly because DH and the kids were with me and they follow me in a line like ducks - like moaning ducks. I really wanted to dawdle at the Laura Mercier counter as they are few and far between in my neck of the woods and I would have liked to check out the tinted moisturiser and primer but I didn't get to look so didn't buy.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Elemis cleansing balm - WBA, i really like this but i think there are equally as good and cheaper products out there.mad_scientist wrote: »I always thought eyeshadow was 2-3 years once opened. All of mine is at least 5 years old and hasn't done me any harm so far though!I think cream shadows might be 3-6 months but I don't get on with them, they just crease on me so I have given up!
i thought that you can get away with them indefinitely as there isn't much that can go wrong in them as they are just powders usually with nothing in there to provide moisture etc for bacteria.
i know cream formulations are much less and mascara is usually 2-3 months because of the risk of eye infection if anything goes wrong with it.0 -
I have definitely been using my eyeshadows indefinitely! They take so long to UU and I hate to throw them out so I will be working through my stash for many years yet!
Having said that, I think I have weeded one out to TA today. I have been working through all my shadows and trying them out which is a very long process since I can only wear one or two a day and don't want to look like a clown at work so have to be selective. Any I don't like any more or which don't apply well have been getting chucked.
I had a lilac shadow on today and while there was nothing actually wrong with it, I don't really want to wear lilac eyeshadow any more so think it will go in the bin. I'm sure I have another similar shade in a palette if I really want to!No more buying unnecessary toiletries 2018

This intrigued me about eyeshadows - most make-up says on the tub, but none of my eyeshadows say anything. I had thought you could use them for a year, but I'll use them for longer. If my eyes start to itch, then I'll chuck it out... But they do last forever - even if I use the same shade every single day, it'll still last over a year!0

Hi everyone,
I haven't caughy up with the thread yet. It's been a fairly manic month so far, but I have been keeping a list of my UUs so far.
L'occitane verbena edt 0.3ml I like this, but do have a small bottle to use, that will be saved/left until others are used up, until next summer
Charles Worthington dream hair hairspray 200ml Confession time. This was not used up on my hair. It was used up killing a daddy long legs that was attacking me. Had this for ages, nice smell, used to clog. Have some other products to use up but that was my last hairspray, will replace at some point
L'Occitane almond shower oil refill 500ml HG. Have the 250ml and 70ml bottles still to finish but this is an HG. Love the smell, gorgeously moisturising when I'm terrible with body lotion, great in place of shave gel. Win win win
No7 stay perfect innocence eyeshadow 2g Brilliant base colour/highlighter for me, but I have Bobbi Brown cream shadow in bone which is more likely the HG, and lots of other highlighters in palletes. WBA on a budget though
Natural collection cream blusher rosy pink 9ml This was the cream blusher. Didn't last half an hour on me and just disappeared. WNBA
Sanctuary sleep soothing bath float 75ml
Sanctuary sleep smoothing silk scrub 50ml Loved both of these, bought for me by a friend Xmas before last. Had used the body butter separately. Love the smell, it definitely relaxed me, although I didn't sleep any better
I went to visit a friend for a weekend away and took the opportunity to use a number of the samples in the collection. I still have an entire makeup bag's worth to use but...
Molton Brown cool buchu mini 30ml I know it's supposed to be for men but don't care, I love it and will buy it
Garnier Moisture Match normal skin moisturiser 1.5ml Nice but nothing special WNB
L'occitane angelica protective lotion spf15 1.5ml
L'occitane angelica hydration cream 1ml Loved both the angelica products and had not tried them before. More samples to use but may buy depending on price
L'Occitane divine cream 1ml Lovely treat for my skin, a dozen more samples to use
L'Occitane Divine Eyes treatment 1ml WNB, this made me skin itchy and inflamed within minutes of applying
L'occitane sublime beauty cream fair x 2 1ml FAR too yellow for my pink toned, albino skin. WNB
L'Occitane 25% Shea butter ultra rich body cream 8ml Love and is on the 'buy when everything runs out' list.
L'occitane verbena edt Perfume 0.3ml as above
L'occitane volumizing conditioner 8ml First time I've tried this. Seemed nice enough but nothing amazing. More samples still to try
L'occitane volumizing shampoo 8ml As above
REN rosa Centifola cleansing gel 15ml Hated this and threw the remaining away. Rubbish at getting off makeup, very thin consistency, dried my skin
Elegant touch get'em off 200ml HG now I use Sensationail, have another bottle already
L'occitane cherry blossom hand cream 10ml Love this, have a large version in the stash, but replaced with Neom Inspiration hand cream in the meantime
One IN this month so far: ELegant touch get em off. Got this on a deal at Boots with a new buffer, needed to remove home gel nails.
I'm off to catch up with the thread as I've missed loads!0 -

Lush golden wonder - WBA loved it.

Greetings from Slovenia! Hope everyone's well and enjoying the weekend. We're having a fab time here, such a beautiful and chilled place. I have some UUs so thought I had better report them whilst I remember what they are:
15. Gillette shave gel 75ml - WBA but this was the men's version as nowhere had the women's mini in stock
16. Dove APD 35ml - WNBA, don't like the scent much
17. Clinique pore correcting serum 1.5ml - WBA but already have a full size in use
18. FCUK Signature body butter 50ml - WBA, love this!
19. Loreal collagen filler lip sachet - WNBA, too hard to tell just from a sachet
20. Germaine de Capuccini eye cream 2ml - WNBA, as above
21. Colgate pro sensitive toothpaste 22ml - WMBA, did the jobMFW 2017 #123 2018: £1,852.64/£39,200 (4.7%)0 -
I forgot to report an in yesterday
Simple Eye makeup corrector pen - this was a freebie in the post from Simple. It says to clean after every use with a simple cleansing wipe, I will just clean with something else as doing that would be very wasteful. This isn't something I would buy as a cotton bud and cleanser does the job for me.
It's grey and damp here today so I am going to restore a huge piece of furniture I got from the church opposite my house, it is a very old and ornately carved cupboard and they were going to chuck it out . The carving is going to be a challenge to sand.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

What a horrible miserable day, glad to hear Sundaygirl you are enjoying your holiday.
I am going out for lunch later to a nice cosy pub, hopefully they will have the fires lit.
UU's
Vo5 shampoo WNBA repurposed as clothes hand wash and bathroom cleaner, it smells nice.
Moisture melt body oil WNBA it is coconut oil with a few extras added. I will buy coconut oil when I run out but this is expensive for what it is. I use it on my scalp/hair at a weekend as a deep conditioner treatment and finished it yesterday. I washed it twice with shampoo to get it all out applied hair curl stuff and let it dry 3 hours later I wondered why is still looked wet. I then ended up having to wash it again so I did not look like my head had been dipped in a chip pan so ended up going out with damp hair.
FP Witley court soap sample
FP Pick pocket sample soap samples WNBA in those scent but beautiful soap.
Maybelline dream matt mousse WBA HG foundation for me, good coverage, lasts well and matches my skin. Have 2 more so will not need to purchase anymore soon.
Adsa shaving foam WNBA there are better out there.
Kiehls orange flower and lychee mist 1.5 ml WNBA it was not as bad as I thought but not enough to buy.
Lush Imogen rose 2ml perfume WNBA
Aromatherapy associates revive bath oil 3 ml WNBA a very wake me up smell, not very keen on.

Oh VALM what sort of wardrobe malfunction?
I am currently using a Kringle Candle Pot Pourri (their version of a wax tart) in Pumpkin Latte and it is heavenly, it is giving off lots of fragrance and the whole house smells of spiced pumpkin - this is one I think you would like VALM.
The Boots advantage points thing is driving me mad, I want some of the new Philosophy winter shower gels very much although the last thing I need for a very long time is shower gel. I have an obsession with it, I love the idea of a gorgeous scent and all that steam.
After applying oil all over I thought I only had enough left in the bottle for one arm the next day so tipped it all out and couldn't rub it in due to the excess. Wouldn't have been a problem had I not then put on a pair of tights. By the time I got to work the tights were down to just above my knees. Took me longer to get to work as well as had to waddle like a penguin to try and keep the tights up!!
I keep wanting to try the Kringle candles but have still not found a stockist nearby. I did have a Starbucks Pumpkin Latte yesterday though and it was delish.
I too would love to treat myself to the Philosophy shower gels but really mustn't. Still have quite a few in my stash and some in use as it is.TheOxfordOwl wrote: »
35. L'Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream (Date Bouquet) 30ml - WBA, but not in this scent, which was not nice. I love the formulation though!
I really didn't like this fragrance either. Just using the new violet one at the mo and that's nice. None of them beat the lavender one though.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!
