Skint breeder I chuck 1/2 a mug of kitchen salt dissolved in a large (3 pint) jug of boiling water over the base and tendrils of the ivy every now and then. It's the only thing I know that works other than chemicals and I don't use those. A bonus is it also gets rid of weeds in cracks in patios etc. Don't let it go onto the lawn though, it will kill the grass!
Do you think this would work on budliea (sp?) ? I have them growing out of the tops of the walls surround my yard/garden and weed killer hasn't done a thing
CY - *hugs* sorry to hear your news.
Reading the secondary school decisions to be made, I'm amazed at how many things there are to consider. I got the list, crossed off all the religious schools (we're not religious so no point in sending her to them), all the same sex schools (I personally think one of the most important things you learn at secondary school is how to deal with the opposite sex, plus DD has always gotten on better with boys than girls  ), crossed off the ones I knew I didn't want her going to (too far away, bad reputation, teachers at her primary told me it wouldn't be a good choice for her) and that left me with 2! I applied online and on the form put "I would rather homeschool my daughter than send her this school but I have to put an option here" next to all the other schoolsLuckily she got into her first choice and has really blossomed as its a school where, to quote DD, "Geeks are cool" :rotfl::rotfl: I have to buy her a bus pass every term as she doesn't qualify for a free one (apparently there are closer schools with places available) but I think the extra £240 a year to send her there is worth every penny considering how happy she is
I'm only going to do dailies today as I'm determined to clear this shredding pile. I have 1/3rd of a crisp box left and it was full when I startedI should really do some non-shredding paid stuff as well but it won't do any harm to leave that until tomorrow except for seeing a customer tonight
Already been to Mr A's and got some fresh veg to make a stew for tea. I don't often buy it fresh as it tends to go off before I use it up, but DD was complaining that the veg went mushy when done in the slowcooker so I'll try it with chunkier fresh stuff I've prepared myself, except for the onions. I use ready chopped frozen ones and I don't care how much more expensive they work out to be, I detest chopping onions:p

Is it just me or are all husbands/partners like this when they have time off together..?
I'm quite lucky, my OH can't sit still so she'll always leap up and have to clean something or tidy up. She just has 2 habits that bug me:
She uses a fresh glass or cup for every drink, even if it's the same drink, so we end up with hundreds of cups to wash at the end of the day.
And she dumps her clothes in a pile in the corner of the bedroom each night. I once counted 3 t-shirts, 2 hoodies, 2 trousers and assorted socks & pants. It's the mix of dirty and okay-to-rewear that irritates me!Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

Well, I need to stop lazing and get on with it today - just finishing up my tea and then I'll get my bum in gear! Am having guests around tonight so need to make the place look a bit more presentable (unfortunately the dehoarding of other rooms has led to me having about 5 boxes for the car boot in the lounge ). Also, Mr T delivered a shop on Monday but decided there was no suitable substitution for chicken breast (!) so I'm going to have to go out in torrential rain to buy some for dinner *sigh*
I did read back, but am terrible for forgetting which comment belonged to who, so big hugs, sticks and spoons all round.

Oh CY I'm so sorry, we have been worrying about you (hugs). What sad, sad news. I hope the move goes smoothly and they can get onto some kind of treatment plan for her.
Well I'm sat out here in the conservatory. Had the heater on earlier for a short while to dry the floor, and its still warm ish and so quiet. Usually the rain drums on the roof so loud you can't hear yourself think. I can hear a trickling but I'm sure its just rain running into new (clean) guttering. Ceiling is drying anyway.
I've been pottering a little (icky tums here too) and since DD is really keen on drawing / sticking I've done her a little craft corner with the drawers of craft goodies and her easel with a new roll of paper on.
In the cubby I have a tall unit with happyland stuff on 3 shelves and boxed games on the top, with the play kitchen and table and chairs. And in the other two corners I have comfy tub chairs.
The rug has been washed recently but I hovered the steam mop over to freshen and fluff up.
So they are all set to play again. Garage room is trashed though. But I'm feeling rather pants so it will have to wait. Nap time this afternoon I think...
Really don't want to go out today but we are nearly out of milk...Bossymoo
