Comps Tips - New Thead Help Needed

Hi,
I originally posted this on comps ending 14/03 i think, but its been moved to game over now, so thought it would get more response here.
I was just wondering.... how long does it take people to complete all these competitions everyday? Its just taken me nearly 3 hours tonight lol. Also do people enter comps on the other threads (not just the the comps ending thread).
This thread or the Comps Discussion thread are a couple of good places to ask questions like the ones you have - if you put them anywhere else they will tend to get moved here anyway so other members can see & hopefully answer the questions & also so they don't clutter up other parts of the boardHow long did it take people before they started winning things. Im hoping i get my first win soon. Been doing comps for a few weeks, but only just started doing the ones on this thread for the past couple of days - my eyes are so baggy now lol.
It took me a few weeks before I won something, but you have to remember that some of the comps you were entering a few weeks ago may not have ended yet - so you may be about to win something
If you are entering on the comps ending threads then you should (in theory) find out about wins a bit faster but some comp organisers don't place too much urgency on picking & informing the winnersThere have been cases where a comp has ended months ago then MSE'ers received their email or letter telling them they had won :rotfl:
To be honest I don't tend to use the comp ending threads as I like doing them from the original threads when they are postedYou will find that some comps actually end early so you may be missing out on some that you want to enter if you only do the comps ending listed ones - it's up to you really as to how much time you have to invest in your new hobby
Also, out of interest, has anybody on here ever won the this morning competition, and how many of you enter it the full 30 times.
Thank you
We have now had winners on the 'This Morning', 'Loose Women' & 'Real Deal' competitions. It depends on who you talk to about how many times people enter them. There are some people who only have the time (or the patience) to enter once or twice, then there are others (like me) who enter the full 30 (or 20 for Real Deal) times
For details of who has won what, check out the I won! I won! I won! forum - this can also be an inspiration to you when you haven't won anything for a little while
To make it easier for you, I don't know if you have read anywhere about downloading/installing something to fill your details in on most entry forms? Lots of people on here tend to use either Roboform or Autofill (if you use Firefox as your browser it is a plugin) There are also other programs out there but they are the ones that spring to mind
Hope this helps to answer your questions & if you have any others then post them up & we can try to help you
Good luck in your new hobbySad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -

If you want to mark that you have entered a competition press the thanks button and not reply to the post "thanks" or "just entered", bumping it.. I'm sure I'm not the only one getting annoyed having to read lots of posts again thinking there is something important and then seeing something like that..
And if I am the only one, I hereby apologize
I totally agree. Only reply if you have something useful to add.0 -

Hi there, and thanks for posting. This is the thread for comps tips, however.Al Mac Appreciation Society No. 188

I think that this is a genuine tip.
When c&ping details of a comp, I find that, if you isolate the email address from the rest of the text that it was in, say, by putting it into its own line (with a line's space above and below), it seems to come up as hypertext in the eventual post, whereas if you leave it within the sentence or paragraph that it was originally in, it doesn't.
Anyone tell me if I am talking pooh or not?Al Mac Appreciation Society No. 188

Hi elliotlyla :hello:
It is this forum (this website) where people share the comps they have found online & in newspapers & magazines. So if you want to know where to go to be able to see comps to enter then just go to the main Competitions Time Forum & pick a threadEach thread will usually contain a competition you can enter.
It is a really good idea though to have a read of Some Basic Rules About The Competitions Forum to get you startedSad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
