Royal Mail Shares

Sounds like people have got confused by the checkbox wording on the application form. There was no checkbox to select nominee account - it was the default position. The only checkboxes available were:
"Your shares will be held on your behalf in the Royal Mail nominee share service. If you wish instead to receive a share certificate please tick this box." - if you ticked this you selected the certificate option.
The second checkbox stated:
"Please tick if you wish to receive a paper copy if your Royal Mail Nominee Share Service Welcome Pack".
So basically you had to leave the first checkbox blank if you wanted to be part of the nominee service.0 -
Just received the 'Posted Contract Note' aka 'Bill of Sale' thro the post for the shares I sold yesterday, online via the Equintini site, ...I choose the option for the money to be paid into my bank account, bacs.
But, the 'Posted Contract Note' received today states that in order for the money to be paid into my bank account, I have to send Equintini a 'blank cancelled cheque' which I don't have, so I have just called them and requested they send me a cheque instead which will be sent out on the 'settlement date'/Friday.- You can only arrange this by phone.(08456 037 037)
- If you don't request the cheque: if they are unable to verify your bank details( via 'blank cancelled cheque' or bank statement) after a certain amount of time(not sure how long) ...they will send you a cheque instead.

Yep that is right, and I read the first part about nominee account and assumed that was the option I had to select, I also assumed I had to select at least one of the options for the form to go through. I suspect that a lot of people have done the same. My mistake, but it could have been better worded.Sounds like people have got confused by the checkbox wording on the application form. It might not all be user error when filling out forms.

yes it's good innit ... the first one says your shares will be held in a nominee account ... but gives you the actual option just as it turns the corner ... the second one offers you a bunch of paper stuff, which turns out to be about the nominee account ... and if you want the nominee account, you don't choose either! It's really a fine piece of design0 -
Equniti have tweeted that all emails have been sent about 3 hours ago apparently, so if you have not recieved your email yet, please check with them to see if you are getting a certificate sent, which will not be with you until the 21st! Word of warning, if you selected the first option (which I did) this was actually for requesting a share certifcate.
If like me you are in this situation, call Equiniti to request a form so you can transfer your certificate into the nominee account. apparently this is free of charge, but no doubt it will cost you the price of a recorded delivery letter to send the certificate.
Does anyone have any advise on what to do if you are in this situation. Is it worthwhile going back to the nomine account or are you better of transferring to a stock broker like HL?0 -
Anyone know of a least expensive option for selling if you're going to receive the actual share certificate?0

If you try the Equniti telephone number it hangs ups within a minute! (And it's not done that twice to me)
Anyone got a number where I can call to request a form to transfer a certificate to a nominee account? This number hangs up on me. 0845 268 02820 -
Most sites seem to have tickers that show the price that is 15 minutes old (yahoo states this). So even if you sell via the equiniti site (at a cost of £17.50) can you ever really know what you sold for?
Here's the sites I've looked at, are any of them live:-
ahh MSE won't let me post links as I'm 'NEW' user, OK I joined 03-02-2008! Equinity, MSE, the techno-decay is everywhere. Will the last person to leave the internet please shutdown the server!
