    Don't. You're making me cry!
  • As an RM shareholder, I'd like to vote that anyone who strikes gets the sack. These hypocrites, all took the free shares and 10k shareholding, but now are striking cos it was sold, so what exactly are they striking for, to undo the sale, OK then we'll need to take back the 2k+ shares you all had OK! The Left in Britain makes you wanna give up. The unions have destroyed the UK manufacturing base over the last 50 years, when there IS no work or workers for them to 'protect' what next? In other countries Unions work with companies and strike for purpose, in the UK they do it cos they're total nihilistic c***s

I'd laugh if they went on strike all over xmas and ended up going bust, so then they're all on the dole for ever, as who else would employ the lazy so and so's LOL

PS - The earlier typo was deliberate!
  • They have more shares you are overruled. What % voted yes to strike

They are voting over a pay deal which happens to be now, they cant reverse the sale as they didnt own it. With rising inflation I dont blame them but I bet their deal is better then most peoples forthcoming pay rises or lack of
  • I for one are quite happy that we live in a society that has free trade unions. This doesn't mean I agree with them on everything, especially the more militant ones, but I'd rather put up with them than live in a dictatorship, of either the right or left, that banned free trade unions.
  • The threat to the post office is NOT from the government, IT'S A PRIVATE COMPANY now! The threat is from the CWU. It's class war not in the interest of the workers, users, shareholders etc. Royal Mail should farm out the work when people strike to TNT. Let them strike, then just asset strip it and close it down. I imagine that nihilistic striking may be what the management want to give them the excuse to do just that.

    Well at least they're consistent.

The unions said strikes were possible if the Govt went ahead. Then there's the further devaluation if Scotland disenfranchises RM following a Yes vote. Yet folk were queuing up in the hope of a quick buck?

Once the small fry take their cut and sell, a large foreign enterprise will take control, and you'll get the mail service you deserve.

What have the unions got to lose? They fact staff were bribed in the hope of cooperation was misguided - it'll be tragic to watch this play out.

Admittedly I don't know much about Trade Unions, they seem like nihilistic cults to me in the UK, so I could be wrong, BUT when I see how the unions in countries like Germany and many other countries operate it seems to make sense. In the UK though I think they are ALL militant. They strike at the drop of a hat! They strike in paranoia about what they think might happen, look at the Olympics blackmail. It's all short term greed with them, just like us RM shareholders! :-)

I look forward to a Scargill type standoff, Probably the reason it was actually privatised is so they can dole out the reality check and hard medicine the CWU have had coming for years that the government for political reasons couldn't do. Go on strike, who still sends letters these days anyway (email/facebook/sms/twitter etc is free!), and for packages it's much cheaper to use an alternative courier. The RM seems to forget they're not bankrolled by the givernment anymore (another great typo) if they keep at it then the competition will just take over and they'll have worthless shares and NO jobs. You're not fighting against the government anymore you're cutting your own noses in your own spiteful faces!
