Oh thank god for that Westy thought it had all gone to pot there 😂

Still no email though. Anyone else still waiting?

Yes, I have received nothing today.

I checked my spam box - nothing. I've been receiving other e-mails all day so not a problem at my end.

I guest it could well be tomorrow before we get anything bearing in mind the time now.

    Anyone?

Was going to stay the course and keep the shares, but tempted to sell tomorrow. What should I do? Hmmm.

Also, will the result of the strike ballot have much affect on the share price?(short/long term?)

    Thanks.

    Klambo.

I was looking on Bing finance and yahoo finance that were showing the price as 3.30

You're looking in the wrong place.
IG Royal Mail Price is all you need to track the price

I've had my email late this afternoon. If the price hits £5 in the morning, I'm selling. Not faffing around with the automated line tho, will be doing it direct online for safety.
  • Thanks, would seem I am looking in the wrong place. Surprised that Microsoft and Yahoo get it wrong though.

Who knows ? But the strike ballot is known about so should be reflected in the price already. Share price might rocket if they choose not to strike or the vote/turnout isn't convincing.

  • You don't need an intermediary to buy these shares. You can go to the website (https://www.gov.uk/royalmailshares) now and make an application online with a debit card (up to £10,000), or download the forms and post them off with a cheque.

If you do that, you'll have certificated shares in your own name. Dividends, if any, will be paid directly to you.

You will need an intermediary (or stockbroker) if you want to sell your shares, of course. Some of us already have intermediary share-dealing account, so the option to apply through that route is useful.

So for the first time in my life i have "shares"

I went online to the .gov website and bought £750 of Royal Mail shares. I sort of had a fit in the middle of my night shift, and bought them!
Having been awake for 24 hours at the time, i can't remember what options i chose, i think there was an option of what to do with the shares.

Anyway, they debited my account and the news said if you applied for £750 you would definitely get them. But so far i haven't received an email from anybody confirming this.

    I'm obviously confused:o

When people are talking about collecting the dividend, but what exactly is that? and how much:)
How do i sell the shares when i'm ready? From what i've gathered i need to open up a share dealing account, and most people seem to be plumping for Hargreaves and Lansdowne. Does' that sound right for a noob like me?

In my defence, we've just paid off our mortgage and gone a bit giddy with doing the best with our money that we can.

More posts will follow, i promise i'm reading as much as possible, but i really haven't got a grip on maths at all. (I'm nearly 50 and have to phone my Mum for help with percentages etc) So please go easy on me.
    Was a 40 a day smoker for 20 years.
Decided to give up, and haven't had a fag for 12 years.
    Halfway through losing six stone.

    Looking forward to early retirement.

I've managed to sell my shares today thanks to the instructions posted on here. BUT before doing so , I wasn't sure what I was doing and applied for a shareview portfolio on equiniti and it said I will get my activation code in the post. I've already sold my shares so what do I need to do now ? thanks for all the help so far . Honestly , I was so lost before coming here.

The dividend will be about £40 a year, paid by cheque or bank transfer, split into two payments a year. That's if you keep them.

If you want to sell now, dial 0113 369 7777, and enter the Shareholder Reference Number you will have received. They will send you a cheque for the proceeds in a few days time.

If you want to sell later, you may well need to open a sharedealing account.

Did you check your bank statement.....are you sure they took the money?

Did you ask for a certificate or for the shares to be held electronically for you?
